"Customer service was top tier. Scott was excellent in getting everything setup to begin our project. Installation occurred faster than expected. Installation crew was efficient and in a timely manner. However, they were slightly later than time slot given. Inside of the house was cleaned thoroughly upon completion but, the outside was less than desired. Needed to clean debris and also clean windows from handprints because they did not have cleaner. Windows look great and are excellent quality. During the quality assurance inspection, Chris was above and beyond. There were some minor issues that he was able to resolve on the spot, like replacing minor dents in a screen frame and a slight tear in one. Superior quality and superior service. It"

A work order was made detailing the roofing repair needs, including possible existing weather damage that would be necessary to repair. The roof repair & replacement was completed in one work day. "We are completely happy and pleased with the word done at our home by Tier 1 Home Solutions, LLC. The crew from Tier 1 did a fantastic job replacing our entire roof, and even went the second mile by helping us deal with some rotting issues that were discovered during their work with us. We were not only pleased with the roof replacement, we can't say enough about the clean-up job done by Tier 1 after the roof replacement. Sometimes contractors don't do a great job cleaning up around the home after work has been done, but Tier 1 made sure everything around the house was cleaned up and neat before they departed. We highly recommend the Tier 1 Home Solutions company, and we are grateful for the roofing work they completed for us. It feels great to have a brand new quality roof that looks just great!"

Roofing questions, answered by experts

You can put new shingles over old shingles, but most municipalities only allow for two layers of shingles before you have to rip off the old roof and start fresh. In some areas, only a single layer of shingles is allowed due to the weight a bundle of shingles adds to your structure. In most cases, it’s a good idea to remove your old shingles before you install new shingles, especially if you suspect that a roof leak may have compromised the decking underneath.

When installed and maintained properly, a cedar shake roof should last up to 60 years. Severe weather and high winds will damage your roof, reducing its life span. Expect a shorter life span if the roofer didn't use top-grade material, didn’t have cedar shake expertise, didn’t create the proper ventilation, or didn’t use the correct fasteners. Keeping up with maintenance will help it last longer. It’s also a good idea to get roof inspections on a regular basis to help spot repairs before they become major issues.

The purchase price of 3-tab shingles is less than that of other material varieties, such as architectural shingles. However, 3-tab shingles generally last far fewer years than even the least expensive architectural ones. Other roofing types, such as metal or clay, also cost more than 3-tab shingles. However, if you plan to stay in your home for many years, the long-term cost of any of these options can compete with 3-tabs because of their longevity.

Yes, installing a new metal or tin roof can increase your home's value. A metal roof's longevity and durability are major selling points for prospective buyers, as it means they likely won't have to worry about a roof replacement. These roofs can last 40 to 80 years, which is significantly longer than traditional asphalt roofs.

In terms of return on investment (ROI), homeowners may see an increase in home value of around $7,000 to $8,000, which can represent 60% to 70% of the installation cost. Another way to measure ROI is per square foot, which can range from $3.00 to $8.40, with higher returns in areas where a durable roof is particularly beneficial.

Thatched roofs last for between 30 and 50 years in most cases, which is longer than most asphalt roofs. However, getting that life span from your thatched roof requires more maintenance than you’d need for most other materials, including fireproofing, brushing, cleaning, and rethatching as the material gets worn down. You’ll also need routine inspections to ensure you’re not at risk of leaks.
