"I wrote a 5-star review for them last year and found it difficult to modify or amend that review as the mold smell from my chimney came back. While they did inspect and clean my chimney and a few other things that came up to about $600 I believe, they did not actually solve my issue with the moldy smell coming from my fireplace, they masked it, and the smell came back. It especially smells in the summer when humidity is high. I appreciated the company sending their crew multiple times to investigate but they couldn’t figure it out, ran out of ideas, and left it at that. They are the chimney experts and I was disappointed they couldn’t get to the bottom of it."

"Working with All Out Chimney has been an amazing experience for me - I will be a lifelong customer! My initial reach out to them was to find a second opinion about some work that needed to be done. I had been told by the guy from Owens Chimney Systems when he came to do a routine chimney sweep that my chimney was dangerous, unusable and estimated that I needed $15,000 of work to make it safe. OMG! I freaked out! I love building fires, but I do not have that kind of money. When I reached out to All Out Chimney for a second opinion, I learned SO MUCH from the very knowledgeable Jamie in her email that described the process of cleaning out the creosote buildup, assuring me that there would be no way to know if I needed further work until that part was completed. Even if I needed the work the other company suggested, their estimate came in lower by thousands of dollars. As it turns out, Jarrell (awesome!) came to do a new inspection, did the initial creosote cleanout and some repairs to the top of my chimney and back wall of my fireplace and then concluded that I had a safe chimney and did not, in fact, need any of the more pricey options - settling it all out for less than $4,500. for the knowledge and expertise (and NOT using scare tactics!!), I will be a lifelong customer of All Out Chimney Sweep and I recommend that you try them out and see for yourself. High regards!! 5-star - much respect. Thank you so much for what you have done, Ashley McGee"

Fireplaces questions, answered by experts

When planning gas log service, budget for local permit and inspection fees, as these are required in Denver. If your home uses propane instead of natural gas, conversion adjustments add unexpected expenses. Older properties near Lake Norman often need upgraded gas lines or chimney relining to meet safety codes. Finally, check your neighborhood rules, as strict HOA aesthetic requirements demand specific materials that increase your overall project expenses.

Helpful?

Yes, functional fireplaces are highly desirable amenities for buyers near Lake Norman. Completing permitted gas log service adds documented value to your property and prevents costly delays during real estate inspections. Buyers relocating to NC expect move-in-ready homes with updated, compliant features. Maintaining your system to meet strict neighborhood aesthetic standards ensures your property stands out and retains strong resale appeal in a competitive housing market.

Helpful?

High humidity around Denver accelerates corrosion on burner components and grates, making annual cleaning essential. Heavy spring pollen and storm debris also clog open-faced fireplaces and chimney caps. Schedule gas log service each fall to clean out this buildup and inspect your pilot light, thermocouple, and gas valves. For homes on propane, professionals must inspect tank pressure regulators annually to ensure safe performance through extreme weather changes.

Helpful?

For minor troubleshooting, start by replacing the batteries in your remote or wall thermostat. You can gently brush loose soot off cool ceramic logs, but avoid using water or cleaning solutions. If your pilot light goes out, follow the manufacturer’s exact relighting instructions. Stop after three attempts and call a professional for gas log service. If you smell gas anywhere in NC, leave your home immediately and call 911.

Helpful?

Install a sturdy safety gate around your open-face fireplace to protect children and pets from burns. North Carolina law requires functioning carbon monoxide detectors on every level of your home. During annual gas log service, ask a professional to inspect exterior vent caps, as local wildlife frequently build nests inside them. If you use a vent-free system in Denver, confirm the oxygen depletion sensor functions perfectly for optimal indoor air quality.
