"Amazing!  Adam at Hard Scapes was quick to respond to an online estimate request.  He worked with our reschedule to look at the property and assess the job requested, twice.  He was knowledgeable about the work needed, provided examples of solutions and products to use.
Our HOA requires approval for any improvements on the property that may effect easements, and Adam worked with us to submit all of the proper documents to send for approval.   After approval was received, Adam scheduled the work to be done, and despite the rain, was able to start work within 2 business day of the proposed start date.
The team that did the installation were professional and respectful of outdoor furniture decor, and best of all, didn't harm any existing grass.  They were finished within two days and cleaned everything up.
The end result is above and beyond what we were hoping for and couldn't be happier that we chose Hard Scapes LLC!

"Luis was chosen from 11 contractors, since he involved the County Inspector and provided a written warranty. The final price was phenomenal for the job.....garage floor, driveway and walkways replaced, as well as extensive grading and landscaping. I am not hesitant to state everything looks so much better than work completed by the original contractor years ago....a ton of compliments from the neighbors. The before and after is amazing. He was timely, communicated well, and he and his crew(s) kept the work area tidy throughout the approximate 40 day process.....rain delays included. I would not hesitate to hire him again!"

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

The choice between asphalt and concrete depends on your priorities, budget, and climate.

Concrete is generally more durable, lasting up to 50 years with minimal upkeep, and offers more customization options like staining and stamping, which can add more to a home's value. However, it is more expensive upfront and can be prone to cracking in cold climates where water can freeze and expand.

Asphalt is typically cheaper and quicker to install and is easier to repair. It performs better in colder climates. However, it requires more maintenance, including regular resealing, has a shorter lifespan, and can get hot and sticky in intense sunlight.

Ultimately, if durability and long-term value are key, concrete is often the better choice. If upfront cost and performance in cold weather are more important, asphalt may be preferable.

Whether it's worth it to install a heated driveway depends on how often you'll use it, your lifestyle, and your budget. If you live in a mild climate with little snowfall, then installing a built-in heated driveway system may not be worth it. If you live in a region that experiences mild snowfall, then a portable mat could work better. However, if you live in a region with heavy snowfall, it makes sense to invest in a built-in heated driveway.

The average cost to repair an asphalt driveway is around $2,459 to $2,500. However, prices can range from $100 for minor DIY crack filling to over $4,000 for more extensive professional work. Costs are often calculated per foot, with minor repairs costing $1 to $3 per linear foot and heavier damage like potholes, sinking, or crumbling costing $2 to $5 per linear foot. Patching smaller potholes can cost around $2 to $3 per square foot. The final price depends on the severity and extent of the damage, driveway design, local contractor rates, and whether sealing is included. For major repairs, it is recommended to hire a professional, and you may get a better deal by bundling repair and sealing services together.

Driveways should be sloped with a minimum 2% slope—anything lower will cause precipitation and runoff to collect. A 2% slope is the equivalent of a 2-foot rise over 100 feet. One quick way to check the integrity of your driveway’s slope: no more than four inches of water should collect on the surface longer than 15 minutes after rain.

To ensure you hire a reliable and experienced paving company, you should start by finding companies in your area that have at least five to ten years of experience working in your neighborhood. Next, rule out companies with poor reviews online or a series of complaints filed with the Better Business Bureau. Since driveways affect your curb appeal, you should also ask each company for references and pictures of recent work to make sure the work the company does is professional and high quality. Finally, check that the company is licensed and insured.
