"After reviewing several proposals, we hired them to pave our community storage lot driveway. They did an excellent job and did more than we asked for. Our community has used them before for street repairs with equally excellent results."

"We needed a patio put in our backyard, so I solicited quotes from a number of contractors. GV Services was one of the few to respond and let alone show up to evaluate the job and provide an estimate. After reviewing some pictures and video of their previous work, I agreed to work with them and we negotiated a price. The quote was very reasonable compared to others, so much so, that I negotiated the addition of a walkway from the front of the house to the back patio. Due to all the rain we were experiencing at the time, work was delayed by a few days, but the team arrived on the agreed date to start framing and preparation. A couple days later, they were back to do the pour. They worked quickly and professionally, cleaning up afterwards. The team did a fantastic job, and the the owner actually went above and beyond by fixing the door to my crawl space; something that he did not have to do. These days it's very hard to get quality work, especially at a decent price, but GV Services definitely exceeded my expectations. We've already recommended them to friends and would definitely hire them again."

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

Wet cutting is usually the preferred method. It controls dust, which helps protect your lungs and makes for a cleaner working environment. Plus, the water cools the blade, preventing overheating and prolonging its life while providing smoother, more precise cuts. The downside is the mess—water and asphalt sludge can be messy to clean. Dry cutting, though convenient if water isn’t available, creates a lot of dust, which can be harmful. This also increases the risk of blade damage due to overheating. So, if you have the option, wet cutting is the better method for most asphalt jobs.

An ideal driveway gradient is between 2% and 5%. Anything lower than 1% or higher than 15% can cause problems for your car or property. A driveway with less than a 1% slope increases your likelihood of flooding and water damage, while a driveway with a 15% grade or higher can be too steep for safe traveling.

Asphalt paving offers several benefits, including cost-effectiveness and a quick installation process. It provides a durable and smooth surface, making it ideal for high-traffic areas. With proper maintenance, asphalt also offers longevity.

Recycled asphalt is not better than gravel, but can be a good alternative. It is inexpensive, but not as low-cost as gravel, and doesn’t tend to last as long. Recycled asphalt isn’t as dusty as gravel and is more environmentally friendly. The black look can be something that homeowners prefer. No matter what, ensure you choose an experienced recycled asphalt contractor.

Gravel is the cheapest way to extend a driveway. Gravel is an affordable, practical option that’s easy to install and perfect for DIY projects, helping you save on labor costs. It can be quickly spread and leveled to create extra driveway space without heavy preparation. While gravel doesn’t offer the same durability or finished look as concrete or asphalt, its low cost makes it ideal for budget-conscious homeowners who want a functional solution without overspending.
