"I have used the Carolina Carpenter (Rick Cox and son) for many years; the most professional and trustworthy of any contractor I have ever hired. This time, the water damage was hardly visible, but behind the facade there was considerable damage all the way to the framing. The problem, caused by improper drainage, was identified by the contractor. He used the very best materials to fix it. Most important, he came back several times to make sure what he did was working as intended. The finished job looks beautiful and I know it will last for a long time. Rick Cox is the best!"

"They came on a Saturday and diagnosed the problem at no cost. Then they saved us over $1700 by finding a replacement motor and controller and not buying it from Bryant/Carrier. They found one nearby and installed it on Monday. We had originally contacted one of the larger, established local firms who charged us just to diagnose the problem and wanted to order the OEM replacement. Even just replacing just the controller that way would have cost double what the motor-controller combo cost using All About. The markups on these parts is just ridiculous. "I highly recommend Comfort Central. Owner Kevin Schumann and his co-workers, Jay and Thomas, did an outstanding job installing the new HVAC system at our house. Over a four-day period, they set up in our crawl space a furnace/AC unit, a new plenum box, pipes for venting, and a dehumidifier with its own elaborate duct and water-removal system that will help keep our huge crawl space dry. They also put in a new heat pump in the backyard and a thermostat in the house. I was so impressed by the people and the work they did. Kevin and Jay are remarkably knowledgeable and experienced when it comes to HVAC issues. Thomas did a very good job with the aspects of the project that he handled. Every installation presents its own challenges, and one of the best things about Kevin and Jay is their ability to improvise as the project moves along. They considered different options when deciding on the size of the new system, where vents should go, how the duct system should be repaired and improved, the placement and venting of the dehumidifier, and many other things. They always kept the code requirements in mind. They were on time, friendly, communicative, and always considerate about how their work affected us while we were in the house. Kevin, Jay, and Thomas were also terrific when it came to answering my many questions. Kevin’s wife Laurie, who manages the office, responded quickly to my e-mails and helped with scheduling. HVAC projects can be expensive and complicated, and we wanted the right company to handle ours. We learned about Comfort Central from our home health specialist who had worked with Kevin in the past and had received very positive comments about his team from customers. I can recommend Kevin and the Comfort Central crew without reservation."

I priced materials for this job, as I originally planned to install themselves, but when I realized that I truly didn't want to get up on the roof of my house (which is quite high) or to get on the roof of my barn (metal, thus slippery) I decided to hire the pros. So that I am very happy with and of course it therefore cost more than it would have if I had done the job myself - but it was safer for me, and also much quicker than I would have been.
