Customers say: True professional

"There were snags as you might expect with a job this size, but none were as a result of Walt. He is great! We did have issues with one of his sub-contractors, but I don't think Walt will be using them again."

"Construction-USA LLC exceeded my expectations from start to finish. The team was extremely professional, punctual, and communicated clearly throughout the entire renovation process. They handled multiple rooms in my home and the quality of the work was outstanding. Every detail was completed with care, and they made sure everything was done exactly how we wanted it. What really stood out was their reliability and professionalism. They kept the project on schedule, respected our home, and were always willing to answer questions or make adjustments when needed. The craftsmanship and attention to detail truly show in the finished results. I would highly recommend Construction-USA LLC to anyone looking for a trustworthy and skilled contractor. I will absolutely be using them again for future projects."

"Great! Ken Starr, our Project Leader, was wonderful to work with and kept us in the loop. All the Contractors were so professional and although, we didn't reside here during the remodel, I came over everyday and brought our dog, Maxine, to stay here while I had appointments and ran errands. You realize you are working with great folks when they love on your dog! She loved all the guys and all the belly rubs! I especially appreciated Kenny and Larry for their overall expertise on all the areas of our remodel. They both educated and reassured me throughout the process. They were a joy to have around. Anytime I had a question, they were here to answer all my concerns. The Painters led by Carlos were so great to work with, the Electrician, Jonathan Medlin, was awesome and helped me pick out a suitable exterior ceiling fan for our front porch, Jody, the Tile Guy was always concerned that I would like the grout color and even held up a day so I could come by and check it out. We now have a totally remodeled home much more functional than I would have ever imagined! Thank you all, Sandra C."

"Bill and Billy were very professional and efficient with the projects I had at my home. They built me and 2 car garage and deck off the back of my house. Pricing was very fair and the quality of their work was top notch. They're family owned and operated. I highly recommend them as a general contractor and builder for any home projects."

"I have used Elaine’s Construction and Design Studio, LLC for multiple projects since 2021. Glenn, Elaine, Jake, and crews worked tirelessly to renovate my entire home that was built in 1973. The home had many issues that had never been addressed for decades. The completely renovated kitchen, master bathroom, and flooring were the standout gems. The modern updates to my old home recently resulted in the quick sale of my home. I highly recommend their work and plan to use them again for updates in my new home."

"Alexei was the installer. He was on time, very professional, explained the process and cleaned up when the job was completed. Very personable. My project was the replacement install of an attic step ladder. Would recommend him to my family and neighbors."

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Homeowners can increase the usefulness of their garage space in other ways, and one option is to extend the length of the garage by making it deeper. The process is similar to traditional garage extensions, but the end product is a garage with a different layout rather than additional parking spaces.

When building a house, it is customary to use 16d nails that measure 3 1/2 inches in length to construct the frame. These nails are crucial in providing the necessary support and stability for structural elements like joists and studs, which ensures a sturdy framework.

For maximum stability, install grab bars on wall studs, as this will adequately support the weight. However, if you don't have access to studs, you can get by with wall anchors. If opting for the latter, choose specialty hollow wall anchors.

It’s sometimes safe to replace a load-bearing wall with a beam, but you need a structural engineer to sign off on the project. You’ll also likely have to upgrade to a steel I-beam or another material that’s stronger than wood to maintain the level of support you need without the wall underneath.

Your local building code will list all the framing requirements for whatever type of structure you're building. Most exterior walls require spacing of 16 inches on-center, while many non-load-bearing interior walls only require 24 inches of spacing. However, there are also varying requirements depending on your construction material, so checking your municipality's rules is essential.
