"Jason and his crew worked efficiently and quickly to take down our 50 + foot tree. They cleaned up and barely knew they had been here. We are having them come back to trim out a few other trees on the property. Great to work with, we would definitely recommend them for your project!!"

"Forest outdoor living has truly been an experience working with Jose Avendano and staff has been wonderful. They had done the front and back yard. It’s like a dream come true the yards are beautifully done when you open the gate and coming in the back is just like paradise and I think everyone who participated in this wonderful project."

"Great experience working with Samuel and Alberto. I had them check some bushes on both of the Lansdowne entrances signs that developed mold, and they handled everything professionally from start to finish. The bushes were large (around 8 ft) with big stumps, and they removed them carefully and efficiently. Fair pricing and helped with the cracked left the edge on the neighborhood sign. Highly recommend."

I’m Christian. I have been working in all or some fields that u have read for 35 years. Born into a family of Masons. I’m a third generation mason in my family. I specialize in hardscapes and landscaping but not limited to any type of masonry work. I have a window screen repair company currently. Moves into the area little less than a year ago. Trying to figure out what I want to do down here in North Carolina. I learned everything I know from doing and watching work side by side with my dad, uncle and my older brother. Anyway I’m available to work. Ready to take care of someone’s project large or small no matter what it is.

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Cutting down a dead tree is always strongly advisable. Aside from being an eyesore, a dead tree can be extremely hazardous, especially when it’s near people or structures. Even if the tree isn’t near your home, it can still harbor pests and diseases that can potentially spread to nearby plants and homes.

Service costs depend on several factors, including the system's age, type, and size, as well as the complexity of the repair. Labor costs and whether replacement parts are necessary also play a significant role.

There are several methods to hollow out a tree stump, and the best one depends on your tools, experience, and priorities. Common methods include using a chisel and hammer, a chainsaw, or burning.

  • Chisel and Hammer: This is often considered the easiest approach for those with limited tools or experience, though it is the most time-consuming.

  • Chainsaw: Using a chainsaw is the fastest method, but it comes with significant safety risks, especially for inexperienced users.

  • Burning: This can be an effective method, but it is not recommended unless you can first drill holes into the stump. Without holes, the stump will be difficult to light and may not burn completely through.

A power drill with at least a ⅜-inch diameter bit can make the job quicker and easier, regardless of the primary method. While you can use a chisel or chainsaw without a drill, it will require more time and effort. Always wear protective goggles and thick gloves, as splinters are an inevitable risk.

Yes, it’s okay to trim low branches on a tree, also known as limbing up or raising the crown. Essentially, you’ll trim the lower third of the tree (trunk) and leave the upper two-thirds of the tree (crown). Arborists recommend trimming 20% of a tree’s leaves per season for two to three seasons. Trimming low branches allows light to flow through the tree, increasing circulation and making the tree stronger and healthier.

While palm trees can bring aesthetic appeal to your yard, they have a couple of drawbacks. The main disadvantage is that many types require warm climates, so if you live in a cold region, you need to ensure you pick a palm that can withstand the freezing temperatures. Another downside is that maintenance can be difficult because of their height, which means you will need to pay a pro to prune the tree as needed.
