"Task Ready Services just did a fantastic job repairing the foundation and replacing Trex on our back porch. It turned out to be a bigger project than expected but Robert just rolled with it and was a real professional always showing up on time, reliable, and is such a perfectionist. I would definitely recommend him for any job you might have."

He does not cut corners, he is particular with every detail. We honestly have no complaints at all. We are so happy with our new home which is in the last week or so of construction. We give him 100% + grade AA for an awesome job. No matter how many times we bug him he never acts irritated or like he does not have time for us. If you want top quality, he's your guy!"

Customers say: Quick response

My name is Austin Street. I am a part-time residential contractor focusing on small jobs related to home remodeling and repairs. Since I am not a full time contractor and just starting out, it is important for me to work with individuals who are in need of small projects so I can complete their requests in a timely manner, to the best of my ability.

Carpentry questions, answered by experts

A-frame homes are on the smaller side. While there’s no set square footage amount it has to be, it will usually come in around 1,000 square feet or smaller.

Installing a tongue-and-groove wall requires similar techniques to those associated with installing shiplap. However, because of the precision necessary to make each board fit perfectly and the increased material prices, the cost is higher than that of shiplap installations. Expect to spend between $2 and $6 more per square foot for tongue-and-groove walls versus shiplap ones.

Converting a carport into a garage can vary in difficulty depending on its configuration, the condition of the foundation or slab, and its location relative to the house. The process has a lot in common with a home addition, but you can often skip non-essential finishes like fine flooring, trim work, or even drywall and HVAC. The conversion requires experience with drywall, insulation, and other building materials to ensure it’s done safely and correctly. While it might be possible for a DIYer with the proper tools and skills to do the work, it is a complicated and potentially dangerous job. If you’re new to basic construction, it's best to leave this project to the professionals.

Framing most homes takes anywhere between five and eight weeks to complete. You’ll need to account for inclement weather conditions, material shipment times, the number of crew members, and the weight of your materials. If the weather is too hot, wet, or cold for the installation, this process could take closer to eight weeks.

Learning how to frame a house includes picking the right lumber for the job. Most people will want to pick pine, spruce, or fir for the framing. These types of lumber are affordable and produce sturdy framing for structures. Look for kiln-dried lumber to reduce the risk of shrinkage or insect damage after installation. As part of what’s included in framing a house when you hire a professional, the contractor should order the lumber, so you don’t have to worry about finding the right lumber.
