"Very Good! They found the septic, dug about 18 inches to get to access, cleaned the filter (which was clogged) and cleaned out the septic tank. They also recommended extenders from the under ground access to ground level, which I had them do. This way next time they won't have to dig up my lawn."

"Mitchell did a great job on my septic install. He was very responsive In our communications leading up to the installation and his price was fair. I am from out of town, so he kept me updated as he was doing the installation. I would highly recommend this company"

"I wish I could give Jeff Burgess 100⭐️🌟⭐️ stars bc that’s how great his service is. I cannot emphasize enough how great of a job Burgess Land Management did with my emergency septic drain field repair. If you are looking for any work like septic repair, install and land management, do yourself a favor and call them. From start to finish Jeff was professional, punctual, showed up when he said he would, (rain held us up some but that’s nature and part of the process) & terrific. He did a high quality job, worked with the county to help me get a permit bc of my emergency situation with my drain field, and offered a very decent & reasonable rate for the massive amount of work accomplished. I have had major septic issues since Hurricane Helene, which exasperated the problems. Jeff listened, understood my situation, and has strong ethics. He assured me he would treat me like he would like his own mother to be treated, in an honest and morally right way, and he totally lived up to that!!!"

"Takes for ever to get a return a call. Also took a week to get someone out for repairs. They said they would reimburse me for septic repairs and it took over 3 months for that to happen."

Septic Tanks questions, answered by experts

The pressure in a well pressure tank should be set 2 to 3 PSI below the pump's cut-on pressure. The cut-on pressure is the lower number in the pressure setting (e.g., the '30' in 30/50 PSI) and is the point at which the pump starts. The cut-out pressure is the higher number, where the pump stops.

For example:

  • If your pressure switch is set to 30/50 PSI, the tank pressure should be 27-28 PSI.

  • If your pressure switch is set to 40/60 PSI, the tank pressure should be 38 PSI.

Common pressure settings for household applications include 20/40, 30/50, and 40/60 PSI. The difference between the cut-on and cut-out pressure is typically 20 PSI.

DIY is not recommended due to safety and technical requirements. Hire professionals for accurate diagnosis and repair.

A new water well pressure tank costs $300 to $500. If you choose to hire a plumber for the job, expect labor to cost $125 to $200. If the tank is difficult to access, labor will cost more. Diaphragm and bladder well pressure tanks have similar costs. One-compartment well pressure tanks are less costly, but they have a higher chance of waterlogging. Larger pressure tanks cost more and hold more water, but they don’t increase water pressure.

If your leach field becomes clogged or saturated, it can cause several problems with your home's septic system. The clog can cause sewage to back up into your home, leading to unpleasant odors and mess. A backed-up septic system can be a health hazard, particularly if the sewage starts to leach into the ground surrounding the leach field.

There are several ways to fix a saturated drain field, including cleaning out your septic tank, adding enzymes and additives to your drain system, and installing a larger septic system.

Many variables, such as home size, type of engineered system, the material used, soil conditions, and water usage, dictate how long your system will last. On average, most homeowners find that their system lasts 15 to 20 years, though it’s not unheard of for them to last up to 40 years with annual and preventative septic maintenance.
