"Garcia Fence did a great job on our small backyard fence project for our new puppy Izzy. Frank and Derrick were very responsive to our questions and requirements. They made sure the fence did not have any gaps or areas for our little escape artist to test her skills. They used premium materials and the workmanship was top notch. We had a tricky area for them to navigate due to multiple, power, internet and drainage obstacles."

"Edward done an outstanding job installing our white vinyl privacy fence. Unbeatable prices and service. Great cleanup also. Would highly recommend him over any of the fencing companies."

Small jobs welcome

"Sean was extremely professional, fair in his pricing, and informative. It was a pleasure to work with him. The fence came out great and he was sensitive to the need to get it repaired in a timely manner since we have two dogs. He kept me up-to-date throughout the project and answered all my questions. We will definitely use Sean again."

"Extremely professional with great customer service! They completed the job in a matter of hours vs days! There was drywall installation and sanding required which generates a lot of dust. When they left it was perfectly clean."

Fencing questions, answered by experts

Wood, vinyl, chain link, and aluminum are common materials. Choose based on durability, maintenance needs, and aesthetics.

Yes, you can use a floor jack to remove fence posts. Attach a stem to the base of the fence post so you can position the floor jack underneath. The stem can be a scrap piece of wood attached with nails or a sturdy nail itself. Put the jack beneath the stem and push the lever to lift up on the fence post and remove it from the ground.

A chain link fence typically lasts between 15 and 20 years, but with proper maintenance, it can last for 30 years or more. To preserve the fence, it's important to keep the mesh wire tight, which can be done with a come-along tool every 6 to 12 months. Investing in a fence with a galvanized, powder-coated, or vinyl-coated finish can increase its lifespan to 20 to 30 years and reduce maintenance needs, as these coatings provide extra protection against the elements.

In the vast majority of cases, chain-link fences are less expensive than wood fences. Installing a wood fence costs anywhere from 20% to 30% more than a chain-link fence, or an average of $3,100, whereas a similarly sized chain-link fence will average around $2,400. Even with add-ons and additional protective finishes, a chain-link fence is very likely to cost you less than a wood fence. The only exception would be a split rail wood fence, which can cost about half the price of a chain-link fence or less.

You should stain both sides of your fence to get the full benefits. Fences often fall along property lines, so you may want to save a buck by leaving your neighbor’s side in the dust. If you do that, all you get is a slightly better view. Moisture and UV rays can still sneak in through the side that’s unpainted or worn down and damage your fence. Rot and rust will spread, even if you can’t see it from your side of the lawn.
