"After contacting at least 1/2 dozen roofers who either never responded or showed up and never heard from them again, Rick was recommended highly and so I gave him a call. Within minutes he called me back, was there the same day, and now, two weeks later, my new roof is installed and it is wonderful! The roofing team got it all done in one day and cleaned up after themselves. I highly recommend Montana Construction - Rick Herrera for any project with your home! Great service!"

"Excellent. When most contractors won’t even call you back and large multi state remodelers try to sell to you like used car salesmen, Kyle returns calls, shows up and performs excellent work for reasonable prices. Hire him, you won’t be sorry."

"We needed a roof replacement. We interviewed several roofers ranging in quotes from $50,000+ which after getting other bids they came down to $29K. That made us wonder how it could change so quickly. We met with Anthony who we were impressed with immediately. He does not believe a roof should cost what we were being quoted. He actually met with one of the companies so they could compare apples to apples. Anthony with AMPCo was approx. $7000 less. We hired AMPCo and they did an excellent job! Our neighbors were impressed and my husband and son who was a contractor were impressed with the work! Anthony and his lovely wife make a great family business. We will recommend them to our friends and family. Thank you AMOCo and crew! Rick and Becky"

"I discovered a leak in my roof during a recent storm. Dylan Wilson, the owner of Lolo Peak Roofing, came out while it was still pouring rain and patched the leak until he could do a full inspection. Within a week, he and his hard-working crew were here to replace my aging roof. They kept me updated about the timeline throughout the project and did wonderful work while sticking to the original quote. There was water damage inside the home and they were able to remediate that as well. I would highly recommend them for anyone’s roofing needs."

Roofing questions, answered by experts

The best way to know if your roof can support solar panels is to hire a structural engineer. They’ll look at your roof and approve the design of your solar panel system or suggest changes. The best roofing for solar panels is made from strong materials like asphalt shingles and metal, but tile and gravel will work. Softer materials like thatch or temporary structures are not a good fit.

Yes, replacing a roof is always a good investment if the current one is in poor condition. Not only will it preserve the structural integrity of the home, but it can also add value at the time of sale. The average return on investment for a new roof is between 48% and 61%. Prospective buyers are also more likely to purchase a home with a recently replaced roof since that means they won’t need to worry about that expense in the near future.

Homeowners insurance typically covers roof repairs or replacement if the damage is caused by a sudden, accidental event or a covered peril, such as a storm, wind, hail, fire, or a falling tree. However, insurance will not cover repairs or replacement for issues stemming from a lack of maintenance, normal wear and tear, or a roof that is simply old and at the end of its lifespan. If a leak or damage occurs due to neglect, you will likely have to pay for repairs out of pocket.

No, cool roofs are not suitable for all climates. Cool roofs are very good at reflecting solar heat, so they’re suitable for homes in warm or hot climates. However, they’re not good at retaining heat, so they’re not suitable for homes in cold climates.

During the framing process, builders connect the roof to the walls with materials, including metal connectors, plywood panels, and wood blocks. These roof-to-wall connections are important and provide weatherproofing, noise and temperature insulation, protection against pests, and home integrity. The type of connector and method used will vary, depending on your home’s construction and needs, and each has pros and cons in terms of cost, noise insulation, longevity, and reliability. Talk with your home or roofing contractor about the best connectors for your roof and walls, and what they recommend for your home.
