"First of all, I received a phone call from Mitch within two hours of leaving a message and he showed up the same day to look at the property. Over the next week and a half while we waited on weather, he showed up 3 more times to ensure the project would be a success. His bid was the highest price of 4 that I received... but with Mitch, you get what you pay for. I was immediately impressed with his background, his demeanor, knowledge, and professionalism. Once on the job, Mitch’s team went above and beyond. As a certified arborist, Mitch smoothed the way with the City of Lakeland in order to get my permit. Once the work started, the team arrived early, worked hard, cleaned up after themselves, and were extremely professional. My job took them three whole days, at the end, they left the area much better than it was prior and helped clean up some old fallen logs that hadn’t been dealt with yet. A phenomenal experience and overall a job extremely well done. Total price paid: $14,500.00"

"Isaac called right away then came out to look at the tree. Price was reasonable, but the service was 5 star. The crew was awesome. They finished cutting down the tree and cleaned up really quick. I would recommend Chop Chop every time. The other tree trimmers didn’t bother to reach out."

"The trees at our rental house were in dire need of being trimmed back before they caused any damage to the new roof. The contractor we were working with on the roof suggested I call Vasquez Tree Service and we couldn't be happier with the results. I called the company and left a message inquiring about an estimate. Eddy Vasquez, the owner, and his wife both showed up at our agreed upon time for the estimate. Eddy speaks limited English, so his wife translates for him. They were both very nice and answered all the questions I had. He gave me an estimate on the spot and worked with me on the price until we agreed on a price that was lower than the other three estimates I received. Eddy and his crew started on the trees the next week and all work was completed within a day and a half. When I met Eddy's wife at the house to pay her for their services, we walked around the property and she made sure everything was to my liking. My experience with Vasquez Tree Service was wonderful and I can't recommend them enough. Should we ever need their services again, we will most definitely call them.

Customers say: Quick response

"This was the absolute best experience my wife and I have had with a contractor. Luis and his crew were there every morning ready to work. They took exceptional care to protect all surfaces, clean, sand, and prime all surfaces. The work was outstanding and exactly what we wanted. Nothing was skimped on and the workmanship was skillful and experienced. Luis kept us informed every step of the way. He worked with my wife and I on the work plan and he and his team executed it perfectly. We are very pleased with the work performed."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Yes, pruning makes trees stronger because it fosters proper growth, weight distribution, and balance of the crown. By increasing the structural integrity of the tree through pruning, it’s less likely to experience disease, pests, broken limbs, and storm damage. Pruning the right branches and limbs is key to improving a tree’s strength and balance.

Generally, you’ll want to prune back the trunk by 1 to 2 feet each year to promote bushy growth. Doing so concentrates vegetative buds closer to the bottom of the tree, where you can easily harvest fruit. For side shoots that are a year old, leave at least six leaves.

Never remove more than 30% of a tree’s foliage during pruning—even if your tree is really overgrown. Removing this much foliage at a time could kill your tree.

Pruning is an effective way to prevent a diseased branch from infecting the rest of the tree. If the infection isn’t caught early enough and the pathogen has spread to the trunk or the majority of the branches though, it is too late to prune off the affected areas and you’ll likely need to remove the tree.

Trees don’t usually grow back after being cut down. Some particularly robust tree species may start sending up new stems from a stump to recover, but those stems won’t become a “tree” like before. Generally, trees don’t recover from being entirely cut down, which is why it’s important to be careful when making a decision. When you cut down a tree, it’s a good idea to make plans to remove the stump, even if it’s unlikely to grow back.

Not all leaning trees are dangerous, but they can be a hazard as gravity may eventually cause them to fall. A key factor is whether the lean is new or has been present for a long time. Trees that have grown with a lean for years are not typically an immediate danger, but a sudden lean is a cause for concern as it often indicates weakening roots. If a tree is leaning more than 15% from vertical, you should consider having it straightened or transplanted. To be safe, it's always best to hire a professional arborist to inspect any leaning tree to assess the risk and avoid potential accidents.
