"We have a huge oak tree in our backyard that needed trimming and thinned out. Isac clearly explained what needed to be done and how they would do it with the small amount of space open for dropped limbs. They avoided damage to plants and shed by guiding them with ropes. They hauled away all the debris. The men were careful and professional doing their work. They also ground down two stumps from trees cut down a year or more ago. Their machine easily ground them way down below ground level along with the large roots protruding in many directions. They did everything for a very reasonable rate and I will call on them for any future work. I highly recommend them. Thank you Isac and crew! Great job! Note: They can also do landscaping and painting. The before and after pictures I uploaded unfortunately don't indicate a large difference because the before picture was taken a week earlier when the leaves were just starting to appear."

"Gilberto gave me an estimate, I accepted, and he was done in 15 minutes! And it's a beautiful job. I thought there would be wood chips all over, but no, it's great and the grass should grow in very nicely now. I'd give him a 10 if I could."

"When I called Safari, they helped explain what was suddenly causing the issue and what the specific service they had would do to fix the problem. They were very courteous, patient as I asked questions, came to their appointment on time and were well worth the money paid. It was less than $100 to spray 10 - 15 trees."

"The trees at our rental house were in dire need of being trimmed back before they caused any damage to the new roof. The contractor we were working with on the roof suggested I call Vasquez Tree Service and we couldn't be happier with the results. I called the company and left a message inquiring about an estimate. Eddy Vasquez, the owner, and his wife both showed up at our agreed upon time for the estimate. Eddy speaks limited English, so his wife translates for him. They were both very nice and answered all the questions I had. He gave me an estimate on the spot and worked with me on the price until we agreed on a price that was lower than the other three estimates I received. Eddy and his crew started on the trees the next week and all work was completed within a day and a half. When I met Eddy's wife at the house to pay her for their services, we walked around the property and she made sure everything was to my liking. My experience with Vasquez Tree Service was wonderful and I can't recommend them enough. Should we ever need their services again, we will most definitely call them.

"Did an excellent job performing clean up of small but heavily overgrown backyard space. Great customer service. Responded quickly to messages and phone calls. The cost was a little more than I had hoped to pay, but it was comparable to the other quotes I received. I would not hesitate to use this company again."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

The best way to protect tree roots is to avoid the roots entirely by excavating outside the root radius of the tree. For nearby projects, it’s a good idea to construct a temporary retaining wall. But that’s not always possible, depending on the project and the root system. In these cases, consider using alternative equipment like an auger to tunnel under the ground.

Remember, tree roots can damage nearby cement foundations as they grow. If a tree is close enough to interfere with large excavations, it may be better to remove the tree than risk future problems.

If executed correctly your tree should survive after being transplanted to a new spot. However, effective transplanting requires six months, careful root pruning, safe transport to the new location, and replanting in prime soil conditions. You’ll also need an appropriately sized root ball for a complete tree transplant. A good rule of thumb is that, for every inch in diameter, your tree’s root ball needs to be around 11 inches. So a tree with a diameter of six inches needs a root ball of approximately 66 inches.

It may not be worth it to rake every leaf in your yard, but it’s necessary to remove the majority of leaves to prevent them from smothering grass growth on your lawn. However, raking leaves isn’t your only option for leaf removal. You can remove leaves easily with a leaf blower or compost or mulch them with your lawn mower to repurpose them to help grow your garden or yard.

Trees should be pruned every two to five years, depending on its age and type. Young trees should be inspected and pruned every two to three years. Mature trees should be inspected and trimmed every three to five years, and fruit trees should be pruned annually with a careful eye on seasonal growth. Evergreens typically don’t need pruning, unless branches or limbs are damaged, diseased, or harboring pests.

It’s possible, although a lot depends on the cause of damage and what steps you take. If the remaining parts of the maple tree are alive and not under attack by disease or pests, they can often be saved even if large portions of the maple tree have died. Frequent watering, careful pruning, mulch, and any recommended fungicides or insecticides can all help with survival.
