"I utilized Nations Drywall Repair to hang, tape and finish the gutted walls and repair the bad seams, beading and imperfections on the coffered ceiling of my master bath. Richard, was honest, responsive and highly professional during the estimate, scheduling and install process. Joe, his installer, was punctual, courteous and performed his work with pride, attention to detail and exceptionalism. Richard was also accommodating in doing some additional drywall work in another room while on site at a fair price. This is the first review I have written in 45 years as a homeowner. I would definitely employ Richard in the future and would highly recommend him to others who value responsiveness and outstanding craftsmanship."

"Martinez and his crew were very professional, completed the work completely, and would not leave until I okayed their work. He checked our whole house for needed repairs, repaired a settling section on one wall, rebuilt a brick light column at the end of a wall and ground and repaired the motor on an ornamental wall. He then sealed the bricks on the whole house. I highly recommend ASAP. I bid out this work. I got superior quality for the best price."

Customers say: True professional

"I had old, leaky tuckpointing on a wall of my home. I had full tuckpointing done on that wall and waterproofing done. The problems I was having have been resolved with the new tuckpointing. I was very happy with the job. My only complaint is that I recently discovered the downspout was not properly reattached. They put a screw in with no anchor so the screw isn't actually holding the gutter to the house. I am going to have to get an anchor and fix that. That is pretty minor, overall I am very happy with the job. I was also very happy Marlon took the time to come to my home when I was home so I was able to explain to him and show him the problems I was having. Other places didn't want to take the time to do that."

"Excellent quality of work. We were hesitant to spend the money on finishing our drywall project but after seeing how it turned out I was so glad we hired Patrick Interiors! Customer service was fantastic and he finished the job quickly but w/ excellence. We can't see any seems and we definitely had some tricky areas for him to work with. I would absolutely hire them again!"

"Everything went well!! Tim came out, checked the damage we needed repaired, told us approximately how long it would take and included his hourly rate. He returned when he said he would, fixed what was discussed and then some (due to unseen rot) and fixed the pitch on one section of gutter that was causing one of the issues. The repairs took a bit longer (that was conveyed before proceeding) but it all looks great!! He cleaned up behind himself too, which doesn't always happen with some workers!!"

"The contractor arrived day of service with a crew of individuals ready to work.
The crew began their work by tearing out all of the deteriorated railroad ties.
They then came out about 2 feet from the existing wall and dugout a base.
Their work was very precise and detailed ensuring that everything was level.
The wall was approximately 90-100 feet long.
Excellent quality of stones were used Versaloc stones.
Drainage system was put in behind the stone wall to ensure sufficient drainage.
Wall was completed in about 4 days.
Excellent workmanship!
I would highly recommend this contractor and will use him again for our next job!

Wall Repair questions, answered by experts

Each design is different, so we can’t say definitively if you’ll need a dedicated drainage system in place for a two-foot retaining wall. However, you can likely skip the drainage, as this project is typically served for walls that are 4 feet tall or more. Even with a relatively low wall, consider drainage if you are building on top of clay or poor-draining soil types or if there are buried water sources nearby, like a well used for other outdoor garden projects.

Yes, including patterns, finishes, and plant integration for aesthetic enhancement.

Railroad ties can be good for retaining walls, but it depends on the area. They have a desirable rustic look and are durable. The problem is they’re treated with creosote, a preservative the EPA says poses a risk to humans and wildlife. Over time, the preservative seeps out of the wood and into the ground. Many areas have banned the use of creosote-treated wood on residential properties. If your area does allow it, never use railroad ties near an edible garden or drinking water source. Instead, use wood that’s treated with an EPA-approved preservative or a wood-alternative composite material.

If you've decided you'd like to skip the cost of restoring a brick exterior wall after considering whether you should repair or replace brick on your house, you can consider installing fiber cement siding over brick for a cost of $2 to $6 per square foot. When done properly, cement siding over brick offers a durable, low-maintenance option that can actually reduce your home's energy costs. It's also attractive. However, improper installation or installation over heavily compromised brick can cause water damage.

Generally, a railroad tie retaining wall consisting of a single line of ties should be between 3 and 4 feet tall—and the height often tops out at around 6 feet. You can go taller, but you may need additional footings and reinforcements, including a second layer of railroad ties to support the added weight of the soil it’s holding back.
