"Matt did an excellent job reinstalling some fans that were coming out of my ceiling and doing some repair work. Also on the fans replace, replacing the pool chain switch on each one of them. Is very courteous and professional. He was out of my house in less than two hours, installing two fans and taken down the old ones and install them to pass."

"The reason I selected White Dog to do the gutter and downspout replacement was that I wanted a better design than the existing standard install, where some gutter segments were getting overloaded.   They spent time up front communicating so that when it came to install, everything was decided and the way I wanted it.  The gutters are very high quality, and perform well---be sure and discuss gutter pitch, mine are significantly pitched and drain faster.  It wasn't the cheapest bid, but I have confidence that the final job will last the next 20 years or more.  The key is spending time discussing current flow and solutions before starting---and that requires both parties to communicate well.  It was easy to discuss project timing, timing changes, and design considerations; they were available to discuss by email every time I had a question or needed to coordinate."

"This is the second time we have used this company since we are installing new windows a section at a time. They were very timely, professional, neat and courteous. They performed work as scheduled and the windows look great. I will have them back again to complete the last section. Very good quality products and craftsmanship.

Bathroom Fan Installation questions, answered by experts

Some disadvantages of a blower cooler—a type of cooling device sometimes known as a swamp cooler—are its increased energy demand and its higher noise level. Blowers require more energy to run because they push air out at a higher pressure. This also means a blower cooler can be louder than a fan. Blower coolers are also not recommended for humid areas because humidity limits their cooling potential.

There are many types of ceiling fans, each with specific features and advantages. Standard ceiling fans are a traditional choice suitable for most spaces and can be made from materials like plastic, wood, metal, or fiberboard. For rooms with low ceilings, low-profile fans are a better fit. Other specialized types include smart fans, which you can control with a smartphone or voice commands, and dual-motor fans that provide increased airflow in multiple directions. For energy savings, Energy-Star certified fans can be up to 60% more efficient than standard models, helping to lower your utility bill. You can also find fans with built-in lights, fans with retractable blades, and large ceiling fans designed for spacious rooms with ceilings between 10 and 25 feet high.

On average, a bathroom fan lasts between five and ten years. The fan's lifespan depends on its quality, installation, and frequency of use. You can extend its life with regular cleaning and by promptly addressing any issues. Common signs that you need a new fan include mold growth, a burning smell, unusually loud noises during operation, or lingering odors in the bathroom. If your fan is no longer working as well as it once did, consider replacing it. The cost to install a new bathroom fan is typically between $240 and $550.

A small wobble isn’t worrisome, especially when you’re using your fan at top speed, but a significant one is. Ball joint fans, which are used on sloped ceilings, are more likely to wobble than a standard fan based on their design. But even then, you shouldn’t see significant wobbling, as this can be a sign of a bad installation.

Identifying the source of noises is your first step to soundproofing a room without overspending. Generally, sound comes from inside or outside of the house. Inside noises include creaking floors, living noises like TVs in the living room, cooking sounds, or kids being kids. External noises generally include incremental weather, disturbing neighbors, and street traffic. Inside noises require you to soundproof floors, ceilings, and doors, whereas outside noises may require you to soundproof your attic, windows, and walls facing the streets.
