"Matt did an excellent job reinstalling some fans that were coming out of my ceiling and doing some repair work. Also on the fans replace, replacing the pool chain switch on each one of them. Is very courteous and professional. He was out of my house in less than two hours, installing two fans and taken down the old ones and install them to pass."

Small jobs welcome

"I researched several Handymen Companies and I noticed that this Company had a 5-Star Rating, so that is why I chose them and I have not been disappointed. I needed a Black Aluminum Blind installed in and on a Porcelain Tile Trimmed Bathroom Window and Bruce Kurzava (who is extremely professional, courteous, friendly and knowledgeable) came to install it and he did a "fantastic job." With that being said, I having him come to my residence once again to put up an Overhead Light in my new Black, Porcelain Tile (32X64 each in size) Stand-Up Shower that was converted from a Tub and also to re-anchor the Right-Hinged Frameless Shower Door Panel that was unfortunately not done correctly (it was not attached to a Stud) by the previous Contractor that did the work before I hired this Company. I more than highly recommend Mr. Handyman of Lee's Summit, Raymore and Grandview, Missouri to complete any projects (large and/or small) that you may need to have performed because the Company and its Employees are "simply great!!!""

"I had an old deck that needed removed and a new one installed. I got 3 bids, all were close to the same. I picked Donigan because he seemed the most organized and his bid made the most sense. The install went great with no issues. Looks just as we planned. Overall I’m really happy with the job Donigan construction did."

"Henry Patterson showed up to provide a bid as promised. His rate was very reasonable and he then showed up to do the job on time. His work was excellent and the job completed as promised. Very much enjoyed working with Patterson Electric to replace ceiling lights in a bathroom and our kitchen."

"Jeff Kelso was the technician. He went above and beyond. Gave me a quote right on the spot. He removed the old door knob and replaced with a new one provided by me. The main thing is that Jeff didn't just settle for "good", but he really made sure it was the best work he could do!"

Bathroom Fan Installation questions, answered by experts

If you think your fan needs to be oiled, the first thing that you have to do is cut the power to the fan. The best and safest way to do this is by flipping the circuit breaker that leads to that room.  Depending on the model of your fan, you may need to remove a cover. Look for a hole labeled oil. If there isn't one, check the manual or look for schematics online. Once located, use the recommended lubricant or spray.

Identifying the source of noises is your first step to soundproofing a room without overspending. Generally, sound comes from inside or outside of the house. Inside noises include creaking floors, living noises like TVs in the living room, cooking sounds, or kids being kids. External noises generally include incremental weather, disturbing neighbors, and street traffic. Inside noises require you to soundproof floors, ceilings, and doors, whereas outside noises may require you to soundproof your attic, windows, and walls facing the streets.

A whole-house fan will not allow you to control your home's temperature and keep it at a specific temperature like a traditional AC unit would. You rely on the night and morning weather to cool your home down efficiently. Also, whole-house fans can be loud and may allow cold air to enter your home in the winter. They also require penetrations through your exterior walls or roof, which could invite water and pests in if they aren’t installed properly.

The lifespan of an attic fan depends on the type. Passive fans can last 40 to 50 years, while electric and solar models typically last 10 to 15 years. You can extend the life of your fan with regular maintenance, such as cleaning the fan blades and shutters and checking for moisture. For professional service, you can consult a local attic fan installer or have an HVAC technician clean, oil, and inspect the unit for potential issues.

A whole-house fan works best to pull chilled and dry air into your home in the early morning hours and at night. This system allows you to close your windows after turning off the fan and trap the cool air inside. You can run your whole house fan continuously for maximum ventilation and fresh air, or you can turn it on for ten minutes or so at a time to introduce cool, fresh air as needed.
