"Iâ ve used Jackson Heating and Cooling multiple times and always have phenomenal response and service. Jon installed our new system 3 years ago after servicing our old system for a little over a year. Jon does all of the work himself and is very meticulous about making sure itâ s done correctly. Our most recent service, my wife and I were on vacation out of the country. My in-laws are staying at the house with our kids. My father in law calls and says the furnace is making a loud noise, like metal on metal. So, I called Jon and he shows up at my house at 8 pm on a Tuesday night to see what the issue is. He immediately ordered the part needed (covered under warranty). Unfortunately, like everything these days, the part wasnâ t available until Thursday morning. So, Jon went the extra mile and brought space heaters to our home to get my in-laws and kids by until he could fix the part. Jon showed up Thursday morning and got the part replaced and itâ s working good as new now, even better than it was before. I will always use Jon for any service needs with HVAC in our home. There is nobody better."

"A consumate and knowledgable professional. He explained the concept of supply and return, and performed what may have been a first time service on our home. The price was extremely fair, we opted in for dryer vent cleaning. We are very pleased to have met them and thankful for the outstanding work that was done. We will be advising our friends that Northland Duct did a wonderful job. Thank you all and we look forward to meeting in the future!! A+++++!! Also, this is an image of what was taken from the ducts not even counting what was vacuumed out. We love Northland Air Duct Cleaning, thank you all!"

"I had Shanks Heating and Cooling install a new GeoThermal unit at my home. They were amazing. From start to finish Each team member was respectful and professional. They made a stressful situation better by answering my every question, even simple questions, and never made me feel stupid for asking. They were there on time and every time they said they would be there. The price that was quoted was exactly what they said and they even upgraded my thermostat without charge! I would recommend this company to anyone and if you are searching for a new furnace or a/c at a minimum you should give them a chance to earn your business. They are amazing!!!"

A Healthy Home Begins With Clean Carpets. Protect your family and investment with clean carpets. Nothing cleans more thoroughly than our patented and green ZEROREZ® cleaning system. • Carpet stays cleaner longer: Harsh detergents leave behind residue, which attracts dirt. Because we never use soap, nothing but clean is left behind after our non-toxic water-based agent is applied. • Old traffic lanes and spots are far less likely to reappear: Our process will not penetrate the carpet backing. Stains are pulled from the padding back into the carpet fibers through a wicking action. • Carpets aren't soaked during cleaning: No soaking cuts down drying times. • Highly trained, uniformed, full-time technicians: We are professionals. Our respectful techs will be a pleasure to have in your home. Trust our ZEROREZ® experts to clean carpets like no one else in the Kansas City area -- our patented process assures it! No residue means carpets stay cleaner longer.

Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

Yes, the furnace and AC use the same blower. The blower is located in the base of the furnace and pushes hot air out of the furnace and into the ducts. It also pushes cool air through the home when the air conditioning is on. Even though the furnace and air conditioning work independently of one another, the blower is an essential component for both systems.

An air conditioner’s watt usage depends on multiple factors, including the type of AC unit, its size, and how often you use it. With that said, most central air conditioners consume between 3,000 and 3,500 watts. Meanwhile, window AC units use 900 to 1,400 watts, and portable air conditioners consume 2,900 to 4,100 watts.

Yes. Return air vents are responsible for gathering and pulling in the warmer air. Once they draw it in, your system conditions the air by removing the warmer molecules from it, allowing your air conditioner to dispense the cooler air back into your home. Not only does this create a more comfortable environment for you, but it also keeps your air conditioner from overworking, resulting in lower energy bills.

Yes. Your air supply should be balanced. The return and supply ducts need to maintain that balance, and this only occurs because an equal amount of air should be entering and leaving your HVAC system. Changes in pressure, extreme weather, and blocking vents with furniture or your stuff can make the air supply unbalanced and cause your home to get too cold or hot.

In most cases, you should hire a professional to carry out services on your HVAC system, as the components are complicated, expensive, and potentially dangerous to work with. However, there are a few things you can do on your own to keep your HVAC system in good condition, including changing your filters every three months, keeping the area around your outdoor condenser clear of debris and plant growth, making sure your or intakes aren’t blocked, and keeping an eye out for increased energy bills, strange noises, and unusual odors related to your equipment.
