"Eric is very knowledgeable about installation of playground equipment. I had under-estimated the difficulty of installing a large, two-bay (4 swing), 12-foot high, commercial-quality swingset on our property. Fortunately, I found PlayPro through Home Advisors. In a short phone call, I quickly realized he knew his stuff. He provided a fair price and followed through with very high quality work. It did take awhile to complete (multiple visits over several weeks), but that was by mutual agreement that this wasn't an urgent task, and also it did require multiple trips and multiple people to do the actual set-up."

"The salesperson came out and gave us a free estimate, was very professional and informative, and did not pressure us in any way. We got a couple other bids and they were competitive with Chesterfield Fence (and a little cheaper) but didn't offer any references or photos of past projects. Chesterfield was very proud of their past projects and encouraged us to "have a look".
The salesperson also explained to us that ALL the work would be done with "in house" personnel and equipment. We received a copy of their liability insurance, a 20 year warranty on all materials, and 5 year warranty on labor and installation.
The fencing crew arrived right on schedule in company vehicles and promptly went right to work. I was very impressed at how well the crew worked together and how efficient they were. They were very polite and respectful.
The old fence was removed and the new fence installed [280' linear feet including two new gates] in one day, including hauling away the old fence in it's entirety.
To be perfectly honest I cannot tell that they were even here except for the new fence. No mess, no left-over scrap, no dirt piles, nothing on my property or the adjoining neighbor's property to show they were even here. And the new fence looks great.
I am very happy with the workmanship, quality of the material, attitude of the workers, and the whole Chesterfield experience.
You truly do get what you pay for. I highly recommend Chesterfield Fence and Deck.

"The gentlemen that showed up were extremely professional and considerate. However the orginal estimate was just over $200 and ended up having to pay just over $800 to haul one couch and one large broken playground set. The differences in price definitely should have been discussed and not just when the job was completed. Not the fault of the two men that showed up but the fault of the individual I spoke to about the orginal quote. I don't think hauling services should cost half of a mortgage. The two gentlemen did work well and quickly but again I've never had to pay this much for a hauling service before. We would have preferred hiring College Hunks which had cleared out my pervious home and have better rates, but they don't service where my mother lives which is what was needed today."

"I was not at home when they performed the service, but my wife was present.
First, the employee expressed doubts that he would be able to fit the aerator through our gates.  We have a home in south St. Louis city, and the gates are narrow.  However, I used a different company the year prior, and they had no problem getting their equipment into our back yard.
Green Thumb did complete the aeration, overseeding, and fertilization.  However, they left a large amount of fertilizer in between my house and my neighbor's house.  The area was actually on my neighbor's property.  The person performing the service did not follow the fence line between our properties.  The result was a large fertilizer burn spot on my neighbor's lawn.
I should have contacted Green Thumb right away, but I found it easier just to sweep up the excess fertilizer, douse the burned area with water, and buy extra seed to fix the area.
Overall, it was not a good experience.
I don't recommend this company for people living in Saint Louis city with small yards.

"I lined up about 3 specific projects and several small to dos that I'd been having trouble with myself.   Al was able to quickly assess and execute the larger project work utilizing good knowledge, the right tools and including me when necessary (e.g., to help lift a 200# awning).   Al was great to work with, polite, punctual, respectful.  The equipment in his van was extremely well-organized and clean.   He was great for taking a look at some To Dos that I was struggling with and either showing me what to do or jumping right in and getting it done with tools and/or knowledge that I didn't have.  Easy to communicate with by email, phone or text and flexible with my schedule knowing that he is busy with other clients.  I've referred Al on and expect to use him going forward.  He is very versatile but if he doesn't have an expertise in something, he told me but shared his thoughts on how I might approach it."

Playground Equipment questions, answered by experts

Whether building a playground or installing a pre-made one is more affordable depends on the materials of each. In most cases, it’s more affordable to build a wooden playground than it is to buy one and have it professionally installed, but it might be less expensive to invest in a pre-made plastic playground, even if you pay a professional to install it. Wooden playgrounds tend to last longer, but as children age, they will become less valuable. Overall, it may be most affordable to have a pro install a pre-made plastic playground.

The average lifespan for a playset is around eight to ten years, but you can probably make it last to 15 years with good weather conditions and proper maintenance. If you’re purchasing a pre-made playset, some brands offer warranties for up to 25 years—long after your kiddos are grown.

You can start by finding playground installers in your area that have amassed mostly positive reviews online. Next, search for the companies on the Better Business Bureau’s (BBB) website to see if any consumer complaints have been filed. Once you rule out companies with poor reviews and a history of complaints, contact the remaining options and ask the following questions to find the right installer for you:

  • Will you pull permits if required?

  • Do you offer a warranty?

  • How long do you expect the installation to take?

  • Do you have experience working with the specific playground material I want?

The average cost to install a playground is around $500, with most homeowners spending between $150 and $1,200 on installation labor. The total project cost can range from $500 to $2,500. These prices typically do not include the playground equipment itself, which can cost an additional $100 to $1,500.

Several factors influence the final installation cost:

  • Playset Details: The type, size, material, design complexity, and number of accessories.

  • Site Preparation: Costs may increase if the land needs to be leveled.

  • Yard Accessibility: Difficult access for installers can raise labor costs.

  • Customization: Custom-built playgrounds are more expensive to install than premade kits.

  • Permits: Local permitting fees may apply.

Additionally, remember to budget for playground surfacing, which can cost $15 to $160 per cubic yard, or up to $225 per cubic yard for poured rubber.

Both indoor and outdoor basketball courts are excellent options, and the best choice depends on factors like your local climate, available space, and budget. As long as the court and hoop dimensions are standard, any player can get a great workout and improve their skills on either type of court.

The primary drawback of an outdoor court is that weather, such as rain and wind, can hinder playing time. An indoor court solves this problem, allowing you to play anytime. However, installing an indoor court can be costly and takes up a significant amount of space that might otherwise serve as a living area.
