"Eric is very knowledgeable about installation of playground equipment. I had under-estimated the difficulty of installing a large, two-bay (4 swing), 12-foot high, commercial-quality swingset on our property. Fortunately, I found PlayPro through Home Advisors. In a short phone call, I quickly realized he knew his stuff. He provided a fair price and followed through with very high quality work. It did take awhile to complete (multiple visits over several weeks), but that was by mutual agreement that this wasn't an urgent task, and also it did require multiple trips and multiple people to do the actual set-up."

"The gentlemen that showed up were extremely professional and considerate. However the orginal estimate was just over $200 and ended up having to pay just over $800 to haul one couch and one large broken playground set. The differences in price definitely should have been discussed and not just when the job was completed. Not the fault of the two men that showed up but the fault of the individual I spoke to about the orginal quote. I don't think hauling services should cost half of a mortgage. The two gentlemen did work well and quickly but again I've never had to pay this much for a hauling service before. We would have preferred hiring College Hunks which had cleared out my pervious home and have better rates, but they don't service where my mother lives which is what was needed today."

"Once again I was truly blessed in that the crew showed up, did their work, left a lawn sign asking people to remain off the grass until it dried, and before I knew it they were finished and gone.  Talk about professionalism and prompt service!  Most definitely a great experience for the cost, and I would most definitely use them again.

"Beaty Home Improvements not only did quality work, but problem-solved to find a solution to fix some underlying hidden structural damage that had occurred from garage settling over the years. They worked closely with our concrete and garage door company choices to create a well-coordinated project. We highly recommend them."

Playground Equipment questions, answered by experts

Rubber mulch is widely considered the best material to place under a playset. This material option provides more cushioning than traditional wood mulch for added protection, remains cooler than sand and most other materials in direct sunlight, and it’s low maintenance. Rubber mulch is slightly more expensive than other common options at $120 per cubic yard on average, whereas pine bark mulch is $30 per cubic yard. But when it comes to your children’s safety, the investment is worthwhile. Consult your playground equipment installation company about material recommendations before starting this project.

You can start by finding playground installers in your area that have amassed mostly positive reviews online. Next, search for the companies on the Better Business Bureau’s (BBB) website to see if any consumer complaints have been filed. Once you rule out companies with poor reviews and a history of complaints, contact the remaining options and ask the following questions to find the right installer for you:

  • Will you pull permits if required?

  • Do you offer a warranty?

  • How long do you expect the installation to take?

  • Do you have experience working with the specific playground material I want?

Material markup costs and labor expenses are the additional primary costs of hiring a playground installer over building your own set. Labor costs are typically less costly than some more specialized home improvement projects. DIY swing set construction is less expensive than professional installation but will take considerably more time and effort to perform.

The average lifespan for a playset is around eight to ten years, but you can probably make it last to 15 years with good weather conditions and proper maintenance. If you’re purchasing a pre-made playset, some brands offer warranties for up to 25 years—long after your kiddos are grown.

The average cost to install a playground is around $500, with most homeowners spending between $150 and $1,200 on installation labor. The total project cost can range from $500 to $2,500. These prices typically do not include the playground equipment itself, which can cost an additional $100 to $1,500.

Several factors influence the final installation cost:

  • Playset Details: The type, size, material, design complexity, and number of accessories.

  • Site Preparation: Costs may increase if the land needs to be leveled.

  • Yard Accessibility: Difficult access for installers can raise labor costs.

  • Customization: Custom-built playgrounds are more expensive to install than premade kits.

  • Permits: Local permitting fees may apply.

Additionally, remember to budget for playground surfacing, which can cost $15 to $160 per cubic yard, or up to $225 per cubic yard for poured rubber.
