"They provided a time frame of when they would be able to perform my septic tank clean out. Their service person called when they were on the way. He easily completed his job task with a pleasant easy going professional attitude. I’ll be calling them back the next time I need my septic tank serviced for sure."

"Bryan was very professional and answered my calls quickly. He did a great job, showed up on time and explained what needed to be done. When there was a problem caused by a subcontractor, Bryan came to fix the problem quickly. The new septic tank met all inspections the first time."

"We thought we had a sinkhole but Corbin determined it was a huge, old septic tank! In one day it was fixed. He communicated well and tried hard to repair grass spots that equipment dug into as well as smoothing out the fill dirt. We wouldn’t hesitate to hire again."

"Hector was amazing from start to finish. Prompt and shows up himself to estimate the work, which was much more reasonable than the 2 other quotes we received, and does a great job through until the end. I have used him three times (for clients anbd myself) and has been consistent every time. He listens, gives quotes quickly, and schedules the repair promptly. Could not recommend more highly, he will be my sewer and septic guy for the long-term!"

"After inquiring about having an inspection of some newly installed plumbing work, Poor John's Plumbing was very quick to respond with an estimated cost and availability. They were easy to schedule a time and I didn't have to wait long to have them come. A plumber named Jacob came out and was very punctual, knowledgeable, and professional. He did a great job of talking through the inspection, was very fair in the cost, and thorough in documenting the inspection results for me. Throughout everything, both Jacob and the Poor John's Plumbing office maintained great communication and were a pleasure to do business with. I would definitely use them again."

"How refreshing, great customer service! I hired C&D to clean carpets in a home I just purchased. They were very accommodating on the times I needed. They were professional and friendly. I am amazed at how well the old carpet in the house looks. The previous owners had pets and there was a lingering odor they were able to remove. I would highly recommend them."

"I had purchased a Deal from Angie's List for a drain cleaning for $69.  As it turned out, it was not the drain.  It was the tub stopper that wasn't opening all the way.  The plumber was very efficient and courteous.  They offered to come out free of charge if this did not take care of the problem.  I was very happy with the results and the service.

Septic Tanks questions, answered by experts

Schedule annual inspections, monitor water pressure, and address minor issues promptly to avoid major repairs.

For the most part, choosing between 30/50 psi and 40/60 psi is based on your water-pressure preference. However, it can also depend a little bit on your house—if you have older plumbing, a lower water pressure can be easier on the pipes (and a bit more gentle on your well pump).

The lower 30/50 pressure is usually enough for a single-story home, but you may want 40/60 if you have multiple stories, as the extra pressure helps water flow smoothly up to the second floor.

The purpose of a septic tank is to allow solid wastes to separate out of the wastewater using time, gravity, and other natural biological processes. If your septic tank is too small, it might be overwhelmed by solid waste and unable to accomplish this task—and if it’s far too large, there won’t be enough liquid in the tank to nurture the necessary bacteria to aid in the breakdown process.

Call a dedicated well and pump professional to install your new well pump. In some cases, plumbers may have the experience needed for the installation, but it’s always better to go with a specialized pro. Well and pump contractors have hundreds of hours of experience with all different types of wells and pumps.

Septic tanks and cesspits are both types of sewage and wastewater systems, but they differ in key ways. The main difference between the two systems is that septic tanks separate sewage from wastewater and allow the latter to flow into a drainage field to filter and disperse into the soil. Cesspits don’t have outlets and instead, store sewage until it needs to be pumped by a professional.
