"This was a tough job with unfamiliar parts, but Buster and his son John performed the work excellently. They inspected old or unused chimney flues for use with Polypro flexible polyethylene pipe and aluminum pipe. Advised me on what parts to order and/or to inquire further about to the manufacturer. Met with HVAC company to discuss venting needs and to coordinate timing. Installed vents with persistence, ingenuity and some tearing into flue from inside house, with ultimate success. Installed new chimney caps and raised fireplace flue opening. Very pleasant to work with. They bring lots of experience to the job.

"Caleb was thorough and professional. He knew his business and got the job done quickly. He kept the area clean and inspected our chimney outside as well. I finally found a fireplace service company that understands the value of a vent-free gas fireplace! We will be using Sleep Easy for all our service and repairs. I did not provide my address for privacy reasons."

"Naor came explained to me what he was here to do. I admired how neat he was and the respect he gave my home by putting on shoe covers. He offered suggestions on things I could do, showed me how to use my fireplace and left my home all the better for him having come. Kudos! He represents your company very well."

Fireplaces questions, answered by experts

Electric fireplaces give off more heat than you might think. Because they don’t lose heat through a ventilation system, which is required for wood-burning and gas fireplaces, they’re able to disperse more heat into the room. However, many electric fireplaces are limited to a max of 5,000 or 5,200 BTU heat output, and you can get more from traditional fireplaces.

Pellet stoves are safer than wood stoves in many ways. They don’t produce as many creosote deposits as wood stoves do, they create less smoke, and the flames are contained, decreasing the risk of any sparks or embers creating a house fire. Pellet stoves also burn more cleanly and efficiently than wood stoves do.

There are several maintenance tips you should take to ensure your pellet stove's safety and proper maintenance. You should vacuum the ash pan every week to prevent overflowing and clean the stove and surrounding vents every three to four months. It’s also important to get a professional inspection every year and install a carbon monoxide detector close to your stove. Be sure to dispose of hot ashes in a closed metal container; store it outside, away from the house. Only use the pellets recommended by your stove's manufacturer, and follow any cleaning and maintenance instructions.

If you haven’t had your chimney cleaned in some time, soot and grime can build up, making it difficult for the lever to release to close the flue. When this happens, locate the lever and clean it thoroughly. If this doesn’t help, consult with a fireplace repair pro to examine it for you.

DIY is not recommended due to safety risks. Hire professionals for proper diagnosis and repair.
