"They were very quick, they called me on Sunday and were here Sunday night to give me an estimate and came to cut my tree down and trim my other trees on Monday morning. They didnâ t damage my yard at all and they were very tidy. They picked up everything they cut down and even some things that were already on my roof and hauled it off. The owner worked with me personally and was very personable and their pricing beat everyone else I talked to. I would recommend them to any and everyone that needs a tree cut down or tree trimming. They were also considerate of all my property including my car, making sure I moved it out of the way before they did any cutting so as to not damage it. 10/10 will definitely be using them next time I need my trees dealt with."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Dead trees are dangerous for several reasons. They are structurally compromised and prone to branch or trunk failure, which can pose a significant safety risk to people, vehicles, and nearby structures. Dead trees can also harbor pests like termites, which may spread to other trees or your home. If a tree died from a disease, it could spread the illness to healthy trees. Additionally, the dry wood is highly flammable, increasing fire risk.

A chainsaw is the best tool to cut down a tree, but you may also use a handsaw or ax. You may also want to use a lopper or pole saw to remove limbs before cutting down the tree. Wear chainsaw chaps and protective gear, including eyewear and earplugs if you use a chainsaw. Again, if you’re unsure about how to use this tool, this project may be one to skip.

Some trees will bounce back just fine, and others will struggle and possibly die. Evergreens, for instance, have a very difficult time recovering after droughts and usually die after periods of extreme dryness. Usually, you’ll have to just wait and see—if the drought occurs in wintertime, it’s possible that your tree will recover during the gentler springtime.

Most tree surgeons cost around $100 per hour or between $70 and $200 per hour for their services. You might get flat fees for more straightforward services, like a tree assessment, tree removal, stump grinding, and one-off treatments, but many times, treatments for tree diseases or pests will be charged based on an hourly rate or a per-visit rate. Since the cost of a tree surgeon can vary widely, it’s best to speak with an arborist near you to get an idea of what your particular issue will cost to correct.

Horticulturist is a broad term for any type of plant and soil expert. An arborist, meanwhile, specializes in all aspects of tree care. You should hire an arborist when you need assistance with tree-related tasks, such as pruning large trees, removing trees, diagnosing a sick tree, or emergency tree services. Horticulturists aren’t qualified to handle those types of tasks.
