"David was on time for our appointment and provided an estimate. He gave a timeline, scheduled a tentative date, and we signed the contract. He recommended the type of paint and a supplier, where I could buy the paint at the contractor rate. My only task was to choose the paint color. The paint looked very different on location than at the store; the sample patch on the wall was also dramatically different than when the entire room was covered. I'm glad I took the time to contemplate my choices. I felt lucky that I ended up really liking the colors.
The weather cooperated and the crew were able to begin the job on time and ended it exactly on time as well, which felt like a small miracle. The entire job took four days. Everyone was friendly, kind, professional, and hard working. The house looks beautiful, lovelier than new. I couldn't be happier. I recognize that the job was not done at a bargain price; it was done at a fair price that professionals deserve. It is obvious that everyone at the Painting Company takes pride in doing quality work. Thank you very much, David, Lynne, and the whole crew!

"Would rate very good to excellent. . Personable, professional, punctual. Carpet, furniture, doors, windows and trim well protected before any work was started. Perhaps could have had less drywall damage with wallpaper removal in half of room. Wall surface repaired, primed, prepped for painting including sanding and painted.. ."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

You may be wondering: can you paint cement? Fortunately, the answer is yes.

To change the color of your cinder blocks, you have two options. You can either paint them or stain them. Either way, you'll be able to choose from a wide range of color options. Some popular colors for cinder block painting include off-white shades and gray tones, which add a modern spin to the traditional gray blocks.

Yes, you must thoroughly clean your deck before staining. If you don't, dirt, debris, grease, and mildew can get trapped between the wood and the new stain. This not only looks unsightly but also prevents the stain from penetrating the wood properly, reducing its ability to protect the deck from weather and UV rays. As a result, the stain won't last as long or look as good. Any existing mold or mildew left untreated can continue to grow beneath the new stain, potentially leading to wood rot and structural damage. Always wait at least 48 hours after cleaning for the wood to dry completely before applying stain.

The best way to protect a deck is to prevent damage from UV light, water, mold, mildew, insects, and abrasive cleaning methods. Sweep regularly to prevent debris that hides bugs and traps moisture that can result in mold or mildew growth. Use a deck cleaner once a year to remove algae, mold, and mildew. Avoid using pressure washers on high, as they can damage the wood. Applying a deck sealant can protect the wood from UV and water damage, and adding shade can also reduce sunlight damage.

There are deck restoration products and oil-based wood stains that can help bring back some of the color and shine to your faded Trex decking. However, if your boards are suffering from serious fading due to UV rays or chemical cleaning products, don’t expect miracles. Also, these products are only suitable for use on the older Trex boards, not the capped, second-generation Trex products.

Wood stain is typically dry to the touch within 6 to 12 hours, but it is not fully cured at this point. You should wait at least 24 hours before applying a second coat or a protective finish. For surfaces like decks, avoid walking on them for at least 24 to 48 hours, and wait even longer before placing furniture. The full curing process can take from 24 hours to one week, depending on the type of stain. Factors like high humidity and cold temperatures can extend drying and curing times, so it's wise to allow for extra time in these conditions.
