"

This is the second time that we have hired The Painting Company.  The first time was for an interior job in 2012.

This time they painted the full exterior of the home including pressure wash of the entire exterior.  They also made minor siding repairs as needed.  They painted all of the siding, the gables, and all window casings on both the ground floor and a very high second floor.

Dave and Lynn (the owners) are very knowledgeable and personable.  Both times, Lynn has had good ideas to suggest about accent colors, etc and has helped us to select the paint colors. They have always done a quality job.  We will be hiring them back again this spring for our wood deck.

"My kitchen was old and outdated. Joe came and gave me some amazing suggestions based on my budget. He repainted my cabinets and they looked brand new! He removed my old countertops and created a butcher block counter from scratch. He also added tiles to the backsplash area and all the way around the sink and counters as well. Installed a new garbage disposal and replaced the wood under the sink where I had a leak. Then he painted the kitchen walls and the ceiling. He was so professional and went out of his way to make sure I was satisfied. I could not believe the outcome and how much bigger the kitchen looked. I will continue to use him for all my future projects!!"

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

It’s often best to spray on deck sealer. Sprayers can apply sealant more quickly and evenly than rolling while still enabling you to reach tight spaces. When using a sprayer, always use a low-pressure setting at a close distance to ensure an even application. Avoid using sprayers on windy days.

In most cases, sanding an old deck before staining it is necessary to achieve a decent finish. If your old deck has a relatively new stain finish on it and you're only doing touch-ups, you can generally skip the sanding part. However, if your goal is to make the deck look and function better, sanding first is a must.

It’s a good idea to sand your porch before painting. This will remove loose or chipped paint and debris, and give you a cleaner surface so that your new paint goes on smoothly. But if the existing surface is in good condition, it’s not necessary to sand your porch before you paint.

It is not always necessary to remove old stain before restaining a deck. If the previous stain is in good condition and is compatible with the new stain, you may be able to apply a new coat after thorough cleaning. However, if the old stain is in bad condition, flaking, or peeling, it is best to remove it completely to ensure an even surface and proper adhesion for the new coat. Staining over a damaged layer can lead to an uneven finish and poor penetration. For best results, test a small area first and consult the stain manufacturer's guidelines.

You may be wondering: can you paint cement? Fortunately, the answer is yes.

To change the color of your cinder blocks, you have two options. You can either paint them or stain them. Either way, you'll be able to choose from a wide range of color options. Some popular colors for cinder block painting include off-white shades and gray tones, which add a modern spin to the traditional gray blocks.
