"The staff at the St.Maryâ s location were extremely knowledgeable and helpful, beginning with the receptionist. Karen, my sales lady, was very patient as I had a difficult time deciding which countertop I wanted. She took me outside to look at their very large selection of granite, quarts, slate and other materials in huge sheets outside in their viewing area. After much deliberation, I picked one, and within two weeks my new countertops were in place. The men who delivered and set up the countertops were very polite and knew exactly what they were doing. Compared to granite, the price can be similar, depending on the quality of the stone. While granite slabs can range from $50 to $200 per square foot, you can find lower-end granite in the same price range as porcelain. High-end granites will cost significantly more.

Porcelain is generally more expensive than laminate, acrylic, and ceramic, but less expensive than high-end slate, concrete, and marble. A key benefit is that porcelain does not require sealing, which reduces long-term maintenance costs.
