"Thank you Jericho. I felt that the team really listened to what I was trying to accomplish. The Senior Designer, Project Manager, Installers, Support Specialist, and General Manager all helped me. I felt that a team of angels lead me to completion. The improvements I needed made me feel good about my house again. The team was kind, patient, professional, respectful, smart and knowable. In the end, I have new half bath, new floors and a new countertop. Thanks again for your help and I will refer Jericho Home Improvement to other tasks as we'll as family and friends. Linda S. Hello, my name is Devin. I work as a lead project manager for a contract company that mainly deals with roofing and exterior. Looking for extra work on the afternoons and weekends. Before this, I had a gutter company. After high school before the gutter company I worked as a freelance handyman. Thank you very much. I appreciate any business.

"Overall, we were pleased. The one flaw that could have been corrected was a "heads up " they were going to cut the holes for the sink and drop in stove on sight in the kitchen. We are still cleaning out the dust that descended everywhere. The company we used previously for our bathroom countertop carried the slabs back outside and made the alterations. The salespeople were very easy to negotiate with and the countertop looks terrific."

Stone Countertops questions, answered by experts

One of the primary benefits of a soapstone countertop is that the material is heat-resistant. You can put a hot pan on soapstone, and it won’t scorch or crack. Despite being able to handle extreme heat, soapstone is much softer than granite, quartz and similar materials. This means that it scratches easily, so you should not prepare food directly on the surface.

Concrete countertops usually cost more than granite. The average overall cost to install concrete countertops is $50 to $150 per square foot. Granite countertop costs average between $40 and $50 per square foot. While concrete materials might be cheaper than slabs of granite, the labor costs are considerably higher as it takes more time, specialized equipment and skill to form customized concrete countertops.

Comparing engineered stone vs. natural stone countertops can help you figure out if one is better than the other for you. The answer depends on your preferences, needs, and budget. You might choose engineered stone if you are looking for something more cost effective and low maintenance, but it is hard to beat the beauty of natural stone counters. You may prefer their longer lifespan, the uniqueness of each slab, and their durability.

Granite is one of the most popular options for countertops, and most homeowners believe that granite countertops are worth the money. Granite is more affordable than marble and quartz, and provides outstanding durability and longevity. Granite countertops are also desirable because they are entirely unique; unlike some other countertop materials, your granite slab won’t be identical to any others. Granite is porous, which means it has the potential to stain if you don’t clean up spills quickly, but the general durability and relatively low cost make it well worth the investment.

The angle at which you cut countertops depends on the material, your intended outcome, and the location of the cut. For example, rather than cutting a straight 90-degree angle for internal corners, cut edges at a 45-degree angle to give a clean, professional look. For outside edges, most homeowners want squared-off sides, so 90-degree angles can make the most sense there. Because you want to get angles exactly right to minimize seams and eliminate the need for patching, be sure to measure several times before cutting and use the right equipment to get sharp, accurate angles.
