"Nathan saved us a ton of money!! We were selling our house and had a direct vent gas fireplace. We originally had another company come out because the pilot light wouldn't light during the inspection. So they came out and cleaned it, said they couldn't get the pilot light lit, told us it was in terrible shape and needed to be replaced and that it would cost approx. $9,000. So we got a second opinion from Nathan and I'm so glad we did! He came out and took one look at it and said he would have the pilot light lit in 30 seconds, which he did! He examined the fireplace, took everything out and said it was actually in perfect condition and didn't need anything. He was a lifesaver!"

There isn’t a way to convert electric fireplaces easily or cheaply to gas. The process requires major renovations, as opposed to wood fireplaces, which are often already vented and have space for the gas-burning equipment. To convert an electric fireplace to gas, you’d need to remove your old fireplace and get a completely new install.

Many people find switching from an electric stove to a gas stove well worth the hassle. After all, gas stoves last up to 15 years, whereas most electric stoves only last up to 13 years. Plus, the sentiment and joy of cooking over a real fire is indeed irreplaceable—and offers more precise temperature controls than electric cooktops. Only yellow Teflon tape is approved for use on gas lines. Also called yellow PTFE tape, it is thicker and specifically rated for use on natural gas and propane connections. Standard white Teflon tape is not safe for gas applications.
