Southside Mower Repairs

The gentleman diagnosed the problem in less than a minute. He fixed the mover immediately and I picked it up two-and-a-half hours later. After years of taking my mower to a dealership for repairs and having to wait two-to-three weeks to get it back, I was surprised and delighted at the service I received. I'll never go anywhere else.

I read the reviews and took my older Lawn Mower (which was on it's last leg) to Southside Mower Repairs. They were great to work with. Said they could have my mower up and running in just a few hours. And cost was very reasonable.

I dropped it off in the morning, he worked on it, and said it would be ready after 2. And it was. This is a tiny old shop, and the proprietor must be near retirement. As long as he is doing this, we'll bring our business back to him. Great service for a great price. Sharpened the blade, new plugs, carb kit, etc. He replaced the pull string too because it was worn.

On the busy Friday before Memorial Day, after 18 months in storage, my 2002 Lawn-Boy would not start.  I changed the sparkplug, cleaned the air filter and put in clean, new gas, but that did not work.  I went to Lawn Care Equipment Company in Rock Hill, ten minutes from our home.  They estimated $150 and two weeks to get my mower started.  I went back home and found Southside on Angie's List.  Frank said because the mower's 13-years-old he didn't know if he could fix it, but bring it in and give him three hours. As promised, three hours later it was fixed.  Frank replaced a broken coil.  Recently we have had a lot of work done as we remodeled and built an addition on our 60-year-old home.  We were very disappointed with our general contractor and many subcontractors.  We feel great to find Frank, an honest man who does what he says he's going to do.  I enthusiastically recommend Southside for anyone in Saint Louis.

A very nice experience - my spouse and I took the mower in after work (nearly 6 p.m.) and he was still there. He took a look at the mower, listened to our complaint, then told us up-front what it would cost to repair the mower. It was done in 24 hours and when we went to pick it up the next day around 4 p.m. it was ready - it ran like a charm when I got it home! The fact the service was so fast was a huge deal since we really needed to get the grass cut between rainy days and didn't want to wait a week with grass up to our knees!

My mower mostly in need of a cleaning. Very honest man. Will go again.

Very easy, and friendly. Job was done same day.

Did not go well. Mower still will not start when hot, after $80.00 bill.
Called, and he said and quot;I don't know...let it cool off a while before you restart it.and quot;
Said I could bring it back, and he would see if maybe it's the automatic choke. Of course, not starting when hot was why I took it there in the first place. Don't think I will take it back.

Discovered that the problem was a common one with automatic chokes, and people who repair small engines should be familiar with it.

There is a bimetallic spring which governs the position of the choke butterfly and the spring had failed.

No excuse for that kind of and quot;repairand quot; service, in my opinion.

Returned once before the trimmer operated properly.

My 3 year-old lawnmower quit on me last fall. The self-propeller mechanism had stopped working and the engine was blowing smoke until it eventually would not start. This spring I called another shop to have the mower fixed but they had 2-3 week wait, which was too long given my grass was approaching code violation. With a recommendation from a family member and positive reviews on Angie's List, I called Southside Mowers. The gentlemen I spoke to on the phone was pleasant but a bit abrupt. He said to drop the mower off the next morning, which I did on my way to work. At dropoff, I discussed the problems with the mower and he said he would have it fixed by the end of the day, although he said he could probably not fix the self-propeller mechanism but he would take a look. Sure enough, the gentleman called in the afternoon and mentioned that he could fix the self-propeller mechanism by simply replacing the belt, although this would add another $20 to the bill. I happily agreed to have him replace the belt. At pick-up, my mower looked good as new and started right up. I have used the mower 3-4 times since and have not had any problems. An important side note, and the only slight inconvenience I can think of, is that they only accept cash. All in all a very positive experience.

Yard vacuum was not running, Diagnosed the problem quickly, repaired and returned the next day. Great price and service.

Great service. Dropped off mower on Saturday mid-afternoon, and was told by Tom it would be ready within 3 hours. It was! Did more than I expected for the price quoted.
