"Lucas and Damion were awesome when they came to help us with our sewer needs. The project was larger than anticipated but they stayed over time and worked so hard to find a solution. We were very impressed at their dedication and customer service and fully trust in them for future services if needed."

"Best company ever! Saved me almost $8,000. I had a sewer backup at my house and called my home warrantee company. They sent out Benjamin Franklin Plumbing. Do not hire Benjamin Franklin Plumbing. They quoted me almost $8,000 to replace a sewer line under my sidewalk, then tried to get me to finance without getting another estimate. I decided to get another estimate anyway. My mom and I had both used Poor John’s plumbing before and they were honest and fixed our previous problems the cheapest, most effective way possible. So I called them. When I called to get a quote from Poor John's Plumbing, the guy told me right away that I probably would not have to pay for it. Not only that but Poor John's Plumbing called the sewer department for me and had them out the next day to confirm that I would not have to pay for the repairs. Poor Johns’ Plumbing was a life saver! Thank you so much!"

"We were in the process of selling & during the inspection the buyer found a issue with the sewer. On a Sunday at 7:30 we sent a request on Angie's list for a plumber to return my call. True Blue answered me in less than an hour and we got scheduled within a day. I met with Anthony and he was able to diagnose the problem and get me a quote. We had other quotes and not one of them offered to clean up after the repairs. Anthony was absolutely the best to work with. We decided to get a partial sewer replacement and a waterline fixed. He was great at communicating everything to us and even sent numerous pictures of the progress. They did such a great job of cleaning up and even worked on the weekends to get the job done!! Would recommend to anyone that wants the job done quickly but also professionally!!"

Sewer Cleaning questions, answered by experts

One way to save money on sewer lines is to install a sewer cleanout since it makes sewer line maintenance easier. Keeping up with maintenance is key to reducing the cost of repairs, so be sure to schedule annual plumbing inspections, install drain guards to stop objects from accidentally falling down drains, and only flush human waste and toilet paper to protect your pipes.

Sometimes, the drain is just too clogged—thanks, stubborn hair and soap scum. In this case, you’ll need a more powerful drain cleaner than you can DIY safely at home. But this doesn’t mean you have to choose a traditional drain cleaner.

You can find biodegradable drain cleaners at your local home improvement store or online for those drains that need a little more oomph

While on the hunt for a formidable drain cleaner, the best options are non-chemical clog solutions that combine enzymes and bacteria.

Professional tools include drain snakes, hydro jets, cameras for line inspection, and enzymatic or chemical cleaners for dissolution.

Cat pee has a strong ammonia-like smell, so if you smell cat pee but don’t have a cat or don’t suspect your cat has any accidents, there could be other issues at hand. Aside from pet urine, your house may smell like cat pee from leaking freon from an old fridge, mold, spilled cleaning supplies, or even outside odors from nearby farms.

Sewer gas in any location can cause eye and respiratory irritation if you’re exposed at low levels, or more severe symptoms if you’re exposed at high levels—but fortunately, the fresh air outside means it’s less likely to affect your physical health. However, sewer smells outside can still indicate significant plumbing problems that will need to be dealt with, such as a potentially damaged sewer line or roof vent pipe.
