Aleda and Bill Posladek are the founders of A.B. May. They purchased May Furnace Company in 1959. They renamed it A.B. May A for Aleda and B for Bill and set out to offer Kansas City comfort and top quality service with a few employees and four trucks. Over the years we have expanded to offer Heating, Cooling, Plumbing, Electrical, and Appliance repair services. In the mid-1970’s we pioneered one of the first homeowner warranties in the industry. Today, we give thousands of Kansas City homeowners a plan for home repairs through our Home Warranties for home buyers and our Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Value service plans. I had a major job done to replace all the cast iron pipes in my 100 year old historical home. This was done in a very timely manner with skilled plumbers. They worked efficiently and effectively. It was a huge mess to do this but they left my house in great shape when the job was done.

NEVER USE AB MAY FOR ANY SERVICES!!! I contacted AB MAY to help with root removal from my sewer line. They informed me that I needed to jet out my sewer line and it would cost me $2,000 but since I had a home warranty it would cost $1,500. I assumed AB MAY was a good company so I did not price check with other companies/plumbers. AB MAY then told me that they recommended I replace my entire sewer line and gave me a price quote which I felt was really high. That led me to call other companies/plumbers and I find out that the going rate to have your sewer jetted is $300-400 and AB MAY charges $2,000! What on earth!?! So I called AB MAY (James) and asked him why they charge so much. He then tries to tell me that the AB MAY jetting machine is a "commercial" grade machine and that others "might" not use commercial grade jetters. I don't care if it's "commercial" if it gets the job done! I then call a friend in another state who is a plumber who specializes in drain and sewer line jetting. He laughed when I told him what AB MAY had told me and said that's a new line...! He said we got ripped off. Listen up! AB MAY is a DISHONEST company--I was told their techs are commissioned based on what they "recommend" you have done and they often tell you that you need way more done than is necessary. They are charging 4-5 times what other honest companies are charging. DO NOT use AB MAY! We are telling everyone we know about this and contacted our relator at Reece & Nichols to inform her and to alert the company of AB MAY's pricing and practices so they can find another company to use when recommending home warranties. We have been robbed!

The tech came to the door. He said he performed the inspection and left. I was supposed to get a video showing me the state of my sewer line but never got it. It was a terrible experience.

It took a week to get scheduled, then a week to receive the parts, then another week to return & install the parts. I was without my microwave for a month because they couldn’t get it fixed the first two visits, my dryer was down for two weeks. I have a houseful of kids so that created a huge stress for me. The tech was polite enough but the dispatchers were rude & uncaring. Will be cancelling my home warranty with them.

Called to get a quote to have our 20 year-old HVAC system replaced due to a leak in the refrigerant system. I was told there would be a $89 service charge for them to send out a technician before they would have a salesman come and provide a proposal to replace the system. I told them to forget it - apparently they are more interested in getting paid for their service calls than providing proposals for new systems.

I have a Value Plan (paid each month), but the company said they would not or could not come service my pool pump any day or time because I didn't have coverage. I asked what that meant and apparently, if I don't pay extra every month, I can't have the company I already pay come to my house for this service; even if I'm willing to pay a service fee! Wow, I've called another company for this service and they may be my new HVAC company. I clearly don't understand the why here. I'm already their customer! The cost of retaining existing customers vs. aquiring a new one must not be a key metric for AB May.

It was terrible. Please don't call AB May unless you have a lot of extra money you want to throw away. I was told, once the technician arrive, that it was going to be $426 to install a kitchen faucet - and that was with me supplying the faucet. My advice would be to call anyone but AB May if you need work done to your house or rental property.

Joseph had to meticulously go through our house to test every outlet to find why the furnace wasn't working. He found the wire that had been rubbing against a sharp object and had the coating worn through, which was causing the electrical connection to short out. Joseph did an outstanding job of persevering and finding the problem, which actually could have been a dangerous situation if not found and fixed. Thank you!

Ryan did a fantastic job! The prior plumbing in our bathroom was done incorrectly and Ryan had to redo it. He took the time to find the right part at our local plumbing supply store to be sure it was done correctly this time. As the homeowner, I can't say thank you enough for making this wrong right! HORRIBLE... as a previous Bronze member (recently cancelled), I was charged over $100 for a part I could've bought @ the hardware Store for less than $20. They waived the $89 service fee: as it was my 1 and only service call on the yr against my Bronze membership. When confronting them about the cost of the part, as I was to have received 15% discount (again Bronze member)... they claim the part was discounted. HORRIBLE Customer Service and Advocate. NO RETURN CALL FROM MGR. LAST TIME they'll ever receive a call from me.
