"I was remiss I’m not asking the price of a sump pump replacement, so I had sticker shock when I heard the estimate. I needed the work done so I went ahead. Jody was punctual and professional and very friendly. He did a good and thorough job. Excellent clean up, too."

"The epitome of professionals. Called Sunday afternoon after the first couple companies way over quoted the job. LJ recommended ordering what we wanted and they would work around it. Tall task given the first quotes all but required there install products. He sight unseen guaranteed he would have the best quote. Guess what, they installed what we wanted at a considerably more fair quote. The team showed up at 4:30, quoted me, and offered to install. Even after a long day. Mind you, our sink was believed at 11. They still showed, provided quality work and customer service. Call these guys."

"If you have any plumbing needs you won't go wrong with Mac Wilson Plumbing. We were in pretty bad shape with water in our basement. Our house didn't have a sump pump, and they came out on a Sunday to give us a free estimate. They scheduled the installation that same week, and we couldn't be more pleased with their work, professionalism and diligence. They went over and above, and have earned our loyalty. Five stars isn't enough!"

"Called them for grinder pump repair. The technician showed up to do an estimate but just found a small power shortage and the issue was solved. He was only here a few minutes so there was no charge"

Sump Pump Installation questions, answered by experts

A sewage ejector pump is necessary if you have any plumbing fixtures, such as a bathroom, laundry room, or sink, located below the level of your home's main sewer line. Standard plumbing relies on gravity to drain wastewater and solid waste into the municipal sewer system or a septic tank. For fixtures below this level, like those in a basement, gravity cannot move the waste upward. The ejector pump provides the force needed to pump the sewage up to the main line. Without one, wastewater from below-ground fixtures would back up, potentially causing a sewage overflow and flooding. If all of your plumbing is on the main floor or higher, gravity is sufficient and an ejector pump is not needed.

Sump pumps remove excess water from the lowest point of your home, which prevents flooding. When a sump pit fills with water, a sump pump pushes that water outside of the basin and into an exterior discharge pipe. From there, the water flows away from your home, so it doesn’t damage your foundation.

3/4 HP is stronger than 1/2 HP. Horsepower measures how much weight can be moved and how fast, or the power needed to move 550 pounds one foot in one second. 1 HP equals 550 foot-pounds per second, so the higher the horsepower, the heavier the load it can lift. While 1/2 HP is a standard, powerful option, 3/4 HP has the extra strength to handle heavier, larger doors with ease.

Common problems include motor failure, clogged discharge lines, and float switch malfunctions. Regular maintenance prevents many issues.

There are a couple of similar alternatives you may consider for a sewage ejector pump, including a grinder pump or a submersible sump pump. Submersible sump pumps protect your home from flooding from outside water, though, rather than handling wastewater from inside. A grinder pump macerates, or shreds, solid waste before pumping it onward to the sewer line.
