"Antoine and his Service Specialist were very polite and pleasant. Diagnosed on Tuesday and repaired on Wednesday. Nice and honest guys! Prompt service, also called ahead before coming out. "My AC was out, it was 90 degrees in my house on a Sunday, and Max-Pro worked to squeeze me into their schedule on the very same day! Sean was extremely professional, and took the time to explain exactly what was wrong with my system and why it was causing it to fail. Their rates were also quite reasonable, especially given that he came to my house after hours on a Sunday! I will definitely be using their services again. Highly recommended."

"They were outstanding in every way!! They temp loaned a window unit until they could install the new one and waited a week after installation before charging. When I asked them why they waited for payment, they said it was because they wanted to make sure everything was installed correctly and there was nothing wrong with the AC unit itself. I wish more businesses were like Alliance Heating and Cooling and also wish they were in more states!"

Small jobs welcome

"A consumate and knowledgable professional. He explained the concept of supply and return, and performed what may have been a first time service on our home. The price was extremely fair, we opted in for dryer vent cleaning. We are very pleased to have met them and thankful for the outstanding work that was done. We will be advising our friends that Northland Duct did a wonderful job. Thank you all and we look forward to meeting in the future!! A+++++!! Also, this is an image of what was taken from the ducts not even counting what was vacuumed out. We love Northland Air Duct Cleaning, thank you all!"

Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

Choosing between a ductless mini-split and central AC depends on your specific needs. Ductless mini-splits are ideal for targeted cooling, providing zoned comfort and energy efficiency. They are perfect for smaller spaces or homes lacking ductwork. In contrast, central AC offers consistent cooling throughout the entire house but requires ductwork and may be less energy-efficient for smaller spaces.

Consider factors like budget, home size, and cooling preferences to make the right choice. Combining both systems, with a ductless mini-split in specific areas, can also be a viable solution for tailored comfort and overall efficiency.

Ceiling fans can be a great way to cool your home without the expensive utility bill of running an air conditioner. Plus, ceiling fans can sometimes run in both directions, pushing hot air down in winter and pulling cold air up in summer. With that said, air conditioning might be the only thing that helps if you live in a very warm climate.

To reset your air conditioner, start by turning it off at the thermostat. Then, shut off power to the AC system at the circuit breaker. Some units have a dedicated "reset" button; if yours does, press and hold it for three to five seconds. If your air conditioner doesn't have a reset button, or if you are resetting it after a power outage, leave the circuit breaker off for at least 30 minutes to allow the system to reset itself. Afterward, turn the power back on at the breaker, turn on the AC from the thermostat, and set it to "cool" to test the system.

You can buy a house with a 15-year-old HVAC system if you inspect the system for performance and budget for a replacement within the next three years. You can also negotiate the price with the sellers. Ask to look at the unit’s maintenance records and energy bills for the last two years to determine the shape of the HVAC system and its operating costs. Spend time in each room of the house to gauge if the HVAC keeps the home at a consistent temperature throughout.

An undersized whole-house generator has the potential to overheat and shut down when you try to run a central AC system. This scenario can not only damage the whole-house generator, but can also trip your home’s breakers or cause electrical damage. To avoid this situation, hire a local generator installer to correctly size your whole-house generator.
