"This was the first time I had used Angi’s and I’m so happy I did. Johnney and his guys came out the same day and did a fantastic job!! We sold the house, but left their business card for the new owners. I would definitely recommend Anderson’s Tree and Outdoor. You can’t beat their price or quality of work."

"Very efficient and worked to resolve our problem. We had tried to fix the door issues ourselves with no luck. Jack was able to assess the issue and fix it in a timely fashion. The cost to fix our door issue was very reasonable. I would definitely have him back."

"Missouri Stump Grinding Company was fantastic to work with. They were able to clear out stumps left after having several trees removed. They were professional and so easy to work with. He responded by text and phone when we reached out to him. They did a great job not only grinding the stumps but also grinding up some of the big surface roots which made it easier for us to level the ground."

"Lammers RnF were very prompt and responded quickly to my need for tree trimming. They came out to my house, estimated the cost, and told me to contact them if I wanted to proceed with them. I did and they came to do the job on the day and time we agreed on, did an excellent job, and cleaned up so well. So glad I hired them and will do so again in future."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Yes, cutting a tree's roots can cause it to fall, particularly if major support roots are severed. In extreme cases, trimming roots can affect the tree's structure and stability. Many crucial roots are located just below the soil's surface. If you make severe cuts to roots more than 2 inches in diameter, you risk impacting the tree's water flow and its ability to withstand severe winds or storms. Even cutting roots less than half an inch in diameter under or outside the tree's canopy can cut off its water supply, causing it to decline, die, and eventually topple.

Costs depend on tree height, trunk diameter, removal complexity, and required equipment.

The safest way to cut down a tree is to make sure you’re completely prepared and have done all the necessary safety checks, including double-checking your equipment is in good working order, you have plenty of clearance to fell the tree, you’re wearing all the safety gear, and you have a partner to help you (who should also be wearing safety gear).

Not all evergreen conifers need to be pruned, but some do. Pruning pine trees is not necessary, but you can do so during June and July if you wish. On the other hand, spruce, firs, and junipers do need to be pruned from late winter to early spring.

It is possible to burn out a tree stump if it is dried out and in an area of your property with a large buffer. Drill holes in the stump and dig around the base so it burns more easily. Then, build a small campfire on top using kindling and firewood. You’ll need enough to keep the fire going for many hours to completely burn out the stump, especially if it’s large.

Monitor the fire closely to ensure it doesn’t spread, and have a hose on hand if it starts to get out of control. When the fire is out, break apart the burned stump and dig out what’s left of it.

If this sounds like a good option, learn more about how to burn a tree stump before attempting it, as it does come with risks.
