We are a family owned and operated business since 1984. We have three employees. Our HVAC work is done in house. A full sheet metal shop enables us to fabricate anything that is needed for duct systems and modifications. On the roofing side, we have sub-contracted to the same licensed and insured roofing and gutter contractors since 2009. When needing to make an insurance claim we are able to expertly see you through the entire claim process. Payment is due upon completion unless the job is worked through an insurance claim. A 10% Senior Citizen discount is offered on the labor and service call for HVAC services only. Financing is not available, but we do accept all major credit cards. FREE estimates are always offered on new or replacement HVAC equipment or roofing and gutter installations. Our phones are answered from 8:00 to 5:00 Monday thru Friday with office hours 8:00 to 5:00 Monday thru Thursday.

I had scheduled them to align with the completion of the framing work to minimize water damage in case it rained. The framers finished early, and the weather forecast indicated rain for the next few days. C&L was able to squeeze me in a little earlier saving me from major water damage in an upstairs bedroom and the existing two car garage. They went the extra mile to make sure the new roofing section matched the existing 16 year old roof. They used quality materials that exceeded the quality of the materials from the original roofing company."

All other services are provided by Horizontal Earthworks employees. We take pride in providing a product that will last and put a great amount of effort in base preparation, & drainage to ensure our product lasts.

"We were impressed with Scott's (the owner of Horizontal Earthworks) professional attitude from the outset of this project. After contacting him, he made an appointment to meet us at our site and he arrived exactly on time. He listened to the plans for the project as we outlined them and within a few days submitted detailed plans along with the estimated cost. We decided to revise the original plan and he again visited the site and came up with details for the revised plan within a matter of a few days. Once we signed the contract, Scott had his crew here at the agreed upon time and began work. The entire project was completed within approximately 7 workdays and was done exactly according to plan. Scott's crew was efficient and respectful of our property--once they completed their work each day, they tidied up the worksite and left no materials or tools strewn around our property. Importantly, the lines of communication between Scott and ourselves was superb. He always let us know when tasks would be accomplished and if we had any questions, he answered promptly. The distance between fence posts is guided by the terrain you’re installing them on, the purpose of the fence, and the material it’s made of. For the average wooden garden fence, posts should be about 6 to 8 inches apart. But if you’re going with a mesh, wire, lattice, or chain link fence, you could set the fence posts anywhere from 6 to 25 feet apart. 

Metal fences can last over 30 years if maintained correctly. Strong weather, abuse from animals or people, and lower-quality material will all shorten the lifespan of a metal fence. Galvanized metal will last longer because it has a protective barrier. Sheet metal and corrugated metal tend to rust faster than solid pieces like those you see in a split rail fence.

While many fence companies and fence material retailers refer to their metal fencing as wrought iron fencing, most of it is actually ornamental wrought iron fence. This means that the fence is made to look like traditional wrought iron but is actually made out of either steel or aluminum. Old wrought iron fences typically found at estate sales or on older properties are much heavier and much more prone to rust than the ornamental wrought iron that newer homes and fences use.

You’ll need to bury the garden fence about 1 foot underground. It’s tempting to save on materials by burying the fence just a couple of inches, but if you do so, determined pests will still be able to dig under the fence and access your plants. Burying your garden fence deep into the soil is an important step that allows you to attach a wire barrier to the fencing. 

Burrowing animals (like voles, moles, rabbits, and gophers) can’t dig or chew through this wiring, meaning that you’ll be keeping your prized petunias or your robust veggie garden from being eaten.
