"The short version is that the result was spectacular (though I cannot yet say anything about durability).  This reglazer had capabilities (fixing tile, installing doors), which the other reglazer I contacted did not.  Overall they were very good to work with, though I did have one case where they showed up late which was quite inconvenient.
Here are a few details:
1. The best thing about this was the result.   We had ugly, cracked, 50's era pink and green tile in two baths.  We asked them to do white on the walls, and kind of a mottled grey/white on the floor.  I was stunned by how good the white tile looked in the end.  I literally blurted out "WOW!" when I saw it.  We have identically sized real-white tile on the backsplash in our kitchen, and it really doesn't look different unless you want to scrutinize the grout.
 2. I had talked to 2 contractors about full bath rehabs, and because opening up the wall had so many unknowns, going with the reglazing cost at least $20,000 less across the two bathrooms, and quite possibly more.  It also really cut down on the risk, both contractors had allowances, and had told me up front that once they opened the walls, they didn't know what they would find and need to fix.
3.  This company was particularly useful because they were able to do minor tile repairs prior to reglazing.  We had a 12" square laundry chute in one bath which is now filled with wires and pipes from various rehabs.  They were able to cover it over, and now you cannot tell it was there.  Similarly, we had some old corroded soap dishes in the tile which they were able to pull out, and cover over with tile.
4.  The one minor disappointment was they were late getting the door, and had to reschedule the door install.  That was fine, but I scheduled them to come out from 7am - 8am so they wouldn't conflict with painters who were working there.  I called the day before to confirm 7am, and they said yes.   However, on that day they showed up at 7:30am, which had them conflicting with my painters.   This was in the bathroom where I most needed the painters to work, because I had electrical in that bathroom the next morning. That was annoying.  All this said, the door itself looked awesome.   I paid a little more to get a 3/8" thick door without a frame (just hinges and glass, basically, and I was super happy with it.

Despite (4), I would still highly recommend Miracle Method.  I was super happy with the result, and overall they were professional and helpful."

"With the unusually wet spring this year, our hearts sank when we heard the dripping of water in our bedroom, kitchen, and living room. We called our roofing company, but they explained the problem was not the roof, but the solar assist panels. So, we checked the phone books for a company to repair them. Imagine our surprise when we discovered in this day of alternative energy we could not find a company willing to come look at the panels, much less discuss our problem. Finally, we called a solarium company, and he said, "We don't do that, but I know a handyman and if he can't fix it, no one can." We put in a call to Al Vitale and he was reluctant at first, but finally after some begging on our part, agreed to look at it in 2 days. Two days later Mr. Vitale and his assistant were there on our roof. Then he came in and asked, Has anyone looked in the attic for where the water is coming in? We felt like 2 pennies waiting for change. No, no one had ever checked the roof. Mr. Vitale climbed up in a wink, did his survey, came down, placed a call to a glass company to order the Plexiglas and gave us the quote. A couple of days later there they were again, handling every detail of the repairs. He called us 2 days ago and said he'd been very busy fixing homes for the summer selling season, but would return to repair the ceilings and repaint them in 2 1/2 weeks. We wish all tradesmen acted so professionally. I almost hate giving his name to this list, but feel everyone should find out why we recommend him without hesitation. Oh, our insurance claim representative was very impressed with the work and also with the reasonable price, so that's not just our opinion. The claim representative took Mr. Vitale's name and number and said he could keep him busy. I hope we'll still be able to call him when we need help again. Oh, no more rain coming in since he fixed it, and we've had lots of rain and hail since."

"This is an older job, but since Angie's List requested feedback for this contractor and we had them accomplish a substantial amount of work (over $34,000) we figured this would be worth writing about.
Had a walk-through listening to what we wanted in the basement in Autumn 2009.  About 7 days later had an appointment where we had a computerized view of what they had designed for us.  Payment was very well spelled out - at different milestones, a percentage was paid.  Very professional and almost exactly what wife was looking for.  Perfectly followed their timetable...even dealing with finicky subcontractors for different aspects of the basement finish.  Clean-up every night was immaculate.  No complaints about the long-term quality of work except the dry-walling and shower area...where after 24 months, we noticed significant cracking in the drywall and separation of the paneling in the bathroom.  Tiling was good except around the sliding glass door, probably due to some water intrusion the grout is cracking.
Our house was built by Fulford.  We have many complaints about what we consider to be mediocre construction of the house (especially our lousy carpet laying), but the basement, especially the carpet seems to be of sound materials and worksmanship.  If we didn't have the issues in the bathroom with the panels and caulking, I'd probably have rated them close to straight "A"s."

"

Nikki arrived right on time and was very polite and courteous. She provided all of her own cleaning supplies including vacuum cleaner and she asked questions to better understand what it was that we were needing from her services. In a little less than 3 hours, she had performed a thorough cleaning of our entire home, including all 3 floors (upstairs, TV room downstairs and the main level). Her attention to detail is exquisite! Our kitchen sink is still shining to this day! We accidently left our toaster on the counter and I think it had honestly been cleaned once the entire time we've had it, but to our surprise Nikki had it looking brand new. We did not expect her to clean our toaster at all, so we were just shocked to see it like that when we came into the kitchen. She wiped all of our baseboards and vacuumed every step (just some of my favorite details of which she went above and beyond), not to mention cleaning between the oven glass and even the laundry room! It was wonderful!

Originally, we were only looking for a one time clean before the holidays but Nikki did such an extraordinary job that we have hired her full time for a bi-weekly, full-service clean of our home. She is that good and we highly recommend her services!

"Ismet (the boss, with whom I dealt) promised to come on a Monday. He telephoned and said he could not come, because he discovered his car registration had expired. Came the following day, but worked only half a day. Brought men to help him finish the job that Friday. The basement leak seemed fixed, but when it rained for several days, it became clear that it had not been fixed. He promised to fix it the next day (Saturday) but then said the part he needed was not available, and that he would come on Monday. He id not arrive that Monday. I was unable to reach him by his cell phone (which is the only way he can be reached). I kept telephoning all that week, with no response. (I even tried the phone book, where I found an Ismet Mujagic, but when I phoned, the man denied all knowledge of Avondale.) That Friday, Ismet telephoned me. He said he was in Chicago, because of a death in his family, and promised to come the following day. He came and finished the work that Saturday. I discovered a new leak and discussed putting in a glass block window, like two windows he had already installed for me. We agreed on a price, and he promised to come the following Monday. That Monday, he called and said he had another job and would come the following day, Tuesday. On Tuesday, he called and said he was in the Emergency Room, that a fragment had gone into his eye the previous day. When I telephoned him during the week, to find out how he was, and when he would come to install the window, he was not answering his phone. I left a message, and he called and said he was home, as advised by the docctor, and would come that Saturday. He did not arrive on Saturday, nor did he answer his cell phone, that Saturday, or the entire following week. Ismet is a lovely human being, who has done excellent work for me in the past. But there have been too many delays, postponements, and disappearances (when he could not be reached at all). I'm going to have to reluctantly find someone else to put in the basement window and do whatever other repairs I need."

Glass Block questions, answered by experts

DIY is possible for small projects, but professional installation ensures proper sealing, structural integrity, and a precise finish.

Glass walls are more expensive overall than their brick or drywall counterparts. However, if you need walls for a building with more than two or three stories, glass walls are the more budget-friendly option.

Installing glass block windows has benefits and disadvantages, as with most materials. The pros and cons can vary depending on the type of glass block and the window location.

Pros

  • Maintains privacy while letting light into the bathroom

  • Energy efficient

  • Sealed to prevent drafts

  • Aesthetically pleasing

  • Strong and secure

Cons

  • Costly to install

  • Challenging installation

  • Challenging repair

Heavy glass tends to be more expensive than thin glass because it is stronger and more durable. In most cases, ¼-inch-thick glass is ideal for mirrors, and ⅛-inch-thick glass is ideal for residential windows. Heavier glass isn’t always necessary, and can be more challenging to hang or install. Work with a local window installation pro for replacement or new construction windows.

Their thickness depends on application, but most glass walls are typically 3/8 to 3/4 of an inch thick. Although it’s not as common, single panes of glass can also be 1 inch thick.
