"Patrick arrived as scheduled and was courteous and efficient. He was able to solve our electronic lock problem quickly. He also removed a secondary knob and installed a new knob in its place. We appreciated the prompt service we received from him and Prime Locksmiths!"

"I contacted Doorbusters Lock & Key for rekeying several locks at my home, and they were excellent from start to finish. The technician arrived quickly, was professional and polite, and rekeyed everything perfectly. All the locks work smoothly, and the price was fair and exactly as quoted. I really appreciate how efficient and honest they were, definitely a company I’ll call again for any locksmith needs. Highly recommended!"

"Very friendly! Coral, who takes the calls, is friendly and efficient. Sam, the service tech, was great! Helpful, knowledgeable. He worked hard on a hot day. Worked for over 3 hours and fixed one of our entrance doors. Multiple problems with two locks and the commercial latches. Both were totally replaced. Repaired any parts that didn't need replacement. We've had several repairs over a 10 year period. Works great now! Thanks!"

"I called Alarm Protection Group AFTER my office was burglarized. Now I feel SAFE. William is great to work with. He's neat and tidy, prompt, presentable - not a butt-crack type of guy, and he doesn't leave a mess in his wake. He's also knowledgeable about the equipment and only uses high-quality products."

"My call was returned the same day. Jon came by to look at the job, and he decided to get started on it right away. He did all the prep work and returned two days later to finish the job . Jon is very professional, explained the repair, and cleaned up after the first day so we wouldn't be inconvenienced. He also cleaned up after completing the job. His work exceeded my expectations."

"Customer service was very good and technicians were friendly. A couple minor issues were that the bottom caps of a couple doors were cut off and not replaced. Additionally, although I emphasized multiple times that door trim and jambs should go all the way to the floor, they did not on multiple doors."

Locksmiths questions, answered by experts

When the temps drop, sometimes you need to thaw a lock to regain access. Options include warming the key with warm water, applying a de-icing spray, or using a hair dryer on low heat. Avoid using boiling water to prevent damage. To prevent future freezing, consider installing a cover or shield over the lock to keep water and ice out. Remember to be patient and gentle during thawing to avoid damaging the lock or key. If all else fails, consult a professional locksmith.

Standard residential deadbolt locks come with a steel bolt that locks your door into place using a key (or keypad) on one side and a thumb turn on the other. When you lock it, the bolt slides into a strike plate on your door jamb to secure your door shut.

Yes, with better technology now available, it’s possible to add a smart lock on your sliding glass door. Smart locks can be easy for almost everyone in the family to operate and can connect to other safety features in the home, like smart lights. Plus, they’re harder for would-be criminals to pick. However, keep in mind that smart locks can potentially be hacked, and some completely rely on phones or Wi-Fi, which can be an issue if the power goes out.

Rekeying door locks yourself costs a fraction of what you would expect to pay a locksmith. On average, it costs between $50 to $100 to hire a local locksmith to rekey your house, though labor costs may vary based on where you live. For a DIY solution, you can expect to spend $11 to $25 on a rekeying kit.

Locksmiths recommend changing your locks once every seven years for the best security at your home. Locks can wear out over time, so you should inspect your locks regularly. A higher grade lock provides you with more cycles than those with a lower grade.
