"Ed did an excellent job installing my new ceiling fan. He arrived on time, was pleasant and professional, and completed the project of installing my ceiling fan, as well as its wall control switch and dimmer for my existing LED lights. The bronze Minka Aria fan looks excellent and was the ideal match for our living area, offering ample air circulation. I also wanted to replace two construction-grade light fixtures in my laundry room, which he was able to do—now my laundry room looks much nicer and brighter. He explained everything he did throughout the entire procedure, which I very much appreciated, and also repaired earlier installation workmanship, which was needed. Will definitely hire him again for any electrical work."

"I had several small projects to complete, including replacement/installation of a bathroom vent fan, replacement of a dryer vent hose and minor deck and fence repairs. Micah Douglas was responsive, knowledgeable and friendly. I am very happy with the quality of the work done and would hire him again."

"I LOVE MY NEW BATHROOM. It's clean, spacious and perfect. The walls of the old bathroom were "textured" and could take skin off if you bumped into it. They are now smooth and beautiful. The shower is perfect and the new vanity is perfectly installed. Even the new toilet is set perfectly. I never thought that room would ever be anything more than serviceable, but it is now beautiful. I will be planning on my kitchen renovation with this company. After the kitchen will be the second bathroom. I hope they have time for me. I Love ❤️ my new bathroom."

Bathroom Fan Installation questions, answered by experts

On average, a bathroom fan lasts between five and ten years. The fan's lifespan depends on its quality, installation, and frequency of use. You can extend its life with regular cleaning and by promptly addressing any issues. Common signs that you need a new fan include mold growth, a burning smell, unusually loud noises during operation, or lingering odors in the bathroom. If your fan is no longer working as well as it once did, consider replacing it. The cost to install a new bathroom fan is typically between $240 and $550.

Duct fans in HVAC systems last an average of 15 to 20 years. Because these fans operate in relatively controlled environments, they can maintain their efficiency for a long period of time. To maximize the lifespan of your duct booster fan, have your HVAC system maintained regularly.

The square footage of your room will dictate the correct ceiling fan blade size. For example:

  • Rooms smaller than 75 square feet require a fan that is 29 to 36 inches.

  • Rooms up to 175 square feet require 42- to 48-inch fans.

  • Rooms up to 350 square feet require 52- to 56-inch fans.

  • Expansive spaces over 350 square feet need a fan larger than 60 inches.

While ceiling fans shouldn’t get loose over time, they still can—especially if they’re installed incorrectly. A wobbling or tilted ceiling fan can shift the screws out of place, causing it to loosen and become a fall risk. It’s important to tighten screws and balance blades as soon as you notice that they’re misaligned or uneven to prevent the ceiling fan from loosening further and becoming a hazard.

Keeping dust off fans can keep them working optimally and help keep dust mites or bacteria from building up. Dust fans weekly with a duster, microfiber cloth, old pillowcase, or vacuum attachment. You can also try spraying a clean fan with a store-bought dust-repellent product or making a DIY dust-repellent with water and a small amount of liquid fabric softener mixed in.
