"Had a great experience with Bruce and Shane. Highly communicative and clear - went above and beyond to check for siding issues around the entire exterior of the house after repairing the issue that we noticed. Would absolutely hire again."

"Ivan was very easy to work with. He returned calls and emails promptly. We did have to negotiate a bit on what I wanted versus what they initially built but I am happy with the nice side porch. They also put on an entry door and a screen door. I would recommend this company."

"Hoffman Weber was top notch from start to finish. They did my entire exterior - siding, windows, doors, shutters. Keyth Hendricks was my initial contact and he visited my house several times, walking me through the process and giving me an estimate. The windows crew - headed up by Pete, with Dave and Reese on the crew - were excellent, They had obviously been working together for quite a while and were fast, efficient, and very helpful throughout the entire process. The siding crew was managed by Brian Thole. A second crew had a cancelation on they day they started my house, so the second crew joined Raul and his crew working on my house. They had the entire house finished in one day (other than the stone in front, which hadn't arrived yet). These guys were fast, no-nonsense, and hard-working. The stone siding was sub-contracted to a guy named Nick (or Nate?). Again, hard-working, fast, efficient. He had the stone siding along the front of my house finished in less than half a day. My rain gutters were sub-contracted to a guy named Derek with Next Generation Exteriors. Again, top-notch work. They had my gutters up in four hours. I was nervous about hiring a contractor for such expensive home improvements, as I'd had no experience with such things in the past. The folks at Hoffman Weber couldn't have been more helpful. Keeping me informed; responding very quickly to minor issues that arose. Every single person that I talked to and worked with from this company or their sub-contractors was the absolute best! I recommend them without reservation."

"Blue Line Exteriors completely replaced the siding on a friend’s home. During the remodel, I asked Brian if he had time to check out some minor storm damage to a window on my home. Brian came out for the estimate and gave a very honest opinion that it was probably not going to be an insurance coverage. Brian was able to provide a very fair estimate to repair the damage and replace the window. He was able to schedule the work in between other much larger jobs and treated the work with the same professionalism that he provided to my friend. His work crew was courteous and completely cleaned up after their work. I would highly recommend Blue Line Exteriors, Brian is an honest and good salesman."

Siding questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can install siding over stucco, but it's crucial to ensure the stucco is in good condition first. Before proceeding, inspect the stucco for any signs of damage, leaks, or mold growth. If you discover water damage, mold, or have ongoing leak issues, it's recommended to remove the stucco completely. This step prevents future problems like mold and pest infestations and allows a professional to repair or replace any damaged sheathing underneath. If the stucco is sound, the installation process involves attaching furring strips to the wall's framing directly through the stucco. The new siding is then installed onto these furring strips. A professional may also need to adjust window and door openings to prevent them from being recessed behind the new siding, which can cause aesthetic issues and create potential leak points.

Increasing home value and return on investment (ROI) are two different things and it’s important to differentiate between the two. While a kitchen remodel will surely raise the value of the house, it may only have an ROI of around 50%. Homeowners looking to raise the value of their home for sale will have to consider how much they will recoup by the monetary investment in projects, as the ROI percentages may be lower or higher than the added value on a dollar-for-dollar basis.

Similar to other types of wood siding consisting of natural materials, cedar siding should last 20 to 40 years. However, the lifespan for any wood siding, including cedar, can be far shorter without the proper repair and maintenance work. Don’t put off making repairs, or problems could worsen quickly. While you can repair minor holes and cracks in the siding shakes, rot and warping requires replacing the boards.

Wood siding requires an air gap behind it to allow water to drain out, and for air circulation and venting to allow humid air to escape and keep the material from rotting due to moisture.

Look and feel for signs of damage after a hail storm. On vinyl siding, there will likely be cracks or holes. If you have steel or aluminum siding, look for dents and cracked or chipped paint. For wood and fiber cement boards, dents are the most common sign of hail damage.
