"I spent $250,000 on all the work including remodeling the interior and redoing the kitchen. They are wonderful people. They never failed me, not one time. Brian Christianson ran the job. His parents own the business. There was never one time that Brian didn't take care of anything I was questioning or asked him about. He never made excuses. He was wonderful. I would recommend them, you won't regret it. I would absolutely use them again."

"We hired Owner Built to remodel our first floor - our kitchen and dining room.  Prior to our remodel these rooms were separate and felt like different rooms. We live in an older house where rooms are more separate and we wanted a more modern open floor plan.  We worked with Owner Built to bring these rooms together.  We gutted both spaces and were able to create an open floor plan.
We loved Owner Built's designer and the options they provided.  Most importantly we liked the transparency of their process.  We knew exactly what the contractors were making and what Owner Built was being paid for their services.  Our overall spend was 25% less than our best full contractor bid.
Our project is on their Facebook page and it speaks for itself.  The process was easy, we had daily control of the project and when we needed help Jim (the owner of the company) was always there.
We didn't find it harder to "be our own contractor" and actually preferred knowing where our money was going and having more say that prior remodels we have done.

Architects questions, answered by experts

You can draw your own house plans using three-dimensional modeling software, but in most cases, you’ll need an architect to draw up the final plans. Architects understand local building regulations and requirements, so their plans will be necessary for getting permits approved, and they’ll also ensure your home is structurally sound. DIY house plans can be a good place to start to help visualize your project, but you should always defer to a professional before trying to proceed with the project.

The process typically takes 2-6 weeks, depending on the project size and level of customization.

The various types of architects can be broken down into eight distinct categories, but there can be specific specialties within each of them. Most homeowners will work with a residential, restoration, green, interior, landscape, or retrofit architect for projects. There are also lighting and commercial architects whose work is geared more toward large spaces and businesses.

Architects can cater to both residential and commercial projects, tailoring their approach according to the specific sector regulatory requirements.

The most common scale for residential blueprints is 1/4 of an inch equals one foot. This scale is the most popular because it’s easier for everyone involved, from professionals to homeowners, to understand the building’s actual dimensions. Also, it allows blueprints to have the necessary details without cluttering the page.
