"Jessica Nosbush Perez and the enter Better Yards & Gardens crew were wonderful. Jessica's design schematics and descriptions were fantastic for planning discussions, and she really heard me when I told her how very much I love PINKS! We have touches and pops of pinks all over our yard. Jessica and crew added trees and boxwoods and hydrangeas and all manner of beautiful growing things to help make our yard more beautiful. We were delighted with their work and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone. Thank you, Jessica, and thank you Better Yards & Gardens!"

Architects questions, answered by experts

Get prepared to meet with an architect by having a clear idea of what you’re looking for, a list of questions to ask, and as many project details as you can provide. The more information you can provide and receive from a prospective architect will help you decide who to hire.

A structural engineer's report provides a professional assessment of a property's structural condition. It typically includes an evaluation of the foundation, key structural elements like roof trusses, floor joists, studs, beams, and rafters. The report will also contain a detailed description of the engineer's findings, often supported by photographs, and provide recommendations to correct any identified issues. Depending on the scope of the inspection, it might also include an assessment of property drainage, potential issues from environmental conditions like extreme weather or tree placement, and an estimated time and cost for any recommended repairs.

Aging-in-place universal design features can make your home more comfortable for family members who are older or have disabilities; they can also make your home safer. In addition, adding a universal-design bathroom can boost your home’s overall resale value.

Mediterranean architecture comes from traditional building styles of countries on the Mediterranean Sea mixed with French, Greek, and Moroccan influences. There are three main types of Mediterranean architecture: Italian Renaissance, Spanish Revival, and modern.

Some signature components of Mediterranean architecture include red terra cotta roofs, archways, stucco siding, and metal detailing on windows. These homes often have balconies and outdoor living areas.

The best way to start designing a house is to know what you want before designing. Making a list of your biggest priorities in a home will help. Designing a house without an idea of what you need or want in a home will lead to many trials and errors that could make it harder to figure out what you need in your design.
