"Movers were friendly and nice to work with. However scratched floors in both homes and there were bangs in door frames, didn?t bring the quoted vehicle and to go back for a second load which cost us another $100."

"Scheduling was pleasant and easy. Couple of date changes but no big deal. Told them what I needed. They purchased the needed parts: Door, hardware, paint. Never felt like he was rushing the job. Put obvious time and effort into making it a quality job. Great clean up. Have needed that door for a long time. Much less expensive than door install from Home Depot. What a relief to have that job done."

Moving questions, answered by experts

Before starting a home moving project in St Paul, secure all required permits, arrange for temporary disconnection of utilities, and schedule soil testing to check for stability or contamination. Notify neighbors in advance, confirm clear access routes for moving equipment, and review your insurance coverage. Double-check for any deed restrictions or neighborhood association rules that could impact your house moving timeline.

Helpful?

Combining house moving with upgrades in St Paul can maximize efficiency and minimize disruption. This is an ideal opportunity to address foundation repairs, update plumbing or electrical systems, and improve insulation for energy efficiency. Consider scheduling exterior siding or roofing work while the home is elevated, and coordinate utility upgrades to streamline the structural relocation process and reduce overall project time.

Helpful?

In St Paul, be cautious of moving quotes that lack itemized details for permits, utility disconnections, or foundation work. Watch for contractors who avoid providing written estimates, have no local references, or seem unfamiliar with St Paul’s soil conditions and historic district requirements. Reliable home relocation professionals will clearly explain the process and demonstrate experience with local regulations and structural relocation challenges.

Helpful?

In St Paul, homes with sturdy, reinforced foundations—such as classic ramblers or historic Victorians—are typically strong candidates for house moving or structural relocation. Evaluate if your property is in a historic district, as this may require extra reviews. Check for wide enough street access, low-hanging utility lines, and confirm your lot size meets city requirements before planning any home relocation project.

Helpful?

In St Paul, unexpected costs during home relocation often include fees for historic preservation reviews, tree removal permits, and utility line adjustments. You may encounter additional expenses for soil stabilization, drainage improvements, or addressing underground obstacles like old pipes. Weather-related delays and seasonal protections—such as winterizing exposed structures—can also add to your timeline, so plan for these local considerations.
