"We had them replace plumbing fixtures in our bathroom remodel and install in-line water heater to provide point of use hot water to a distant bathroom from our water heater. In addition, they replaced a deteriorating concrete laundry tub and replaced a shut-off valve for an outdoor water faucet that was leaking."

"Mike did a fantastic job replacing my under sink filtration system and the shut off valve that hooked up to it. I must say it was a little spendy though. Thank You."

"Called them on Monday morning because water heater was discharging. By early afternoon Jon showed up. Diagnosed problem to be related to very high water pressure (nearly 80 psi). Installed pressure reduction valve and pressure tank. I had called water heater manufacturer and this was the remedy they suggested so I knew Jon was doing what was recommended. However, within a few hours the tank again discharged lots of hot water. I called Jon and he arranged for a new control component to be sent under warranty by the manufacturer. Early Wednesday morning Jon installed the new component and we thought all was well. However Thursday morning found hot water flowing from the discharge pipe once again. Notified Jon and he returned and installed a new overflow valve. He also rigged up PVC pipe to direct water to the drain in the event it happened again. It has been over a week now and the water heater seems to be performing as it should. While I was not happy that it took multiple tries to fix the darn thing, I know Jon was following the recommended protocols and did so in a professional manner. He was very responsive and empathetic. He checked in with me numerous time to see if there we problems. He was genuinely interested in solving the problem and eventually did."

"Honest, knowledgeable, reliable. We needed a water heater replaced that went bad. They not only replaced the water heater asap but also found the reason it went bad. We had a bad pressure tank on the well. All done extremely fast and professionally. Would highly recommend for any of your plumbing needs. Scott."

Water Heaters questions, answered by experts

If your system is not vented properly, you could experience what’s called backdrafting. Backdrafting is when your ventilation system isn’t working as it should, and instead of releasing gases outside, they get trapped inside your home.

Gas and propane water heaters create a few types of combustion gases, but the most dangerous is carbon monoxide. If there’s too much build-up of these gases inside your home, it can lead to carbon monoxide poisoning.

Storage, tankless, heat pumps, and solar water heaters each suit specific space constraints, usage needs, and efficiency preferences.

While a water heater explosion is rare, it is a serious danger. Be aware of these critical warning signs:

  • Sulfur or Rotten Egg Smell: This is a major red flag, especially for gas water heaters. It can indicate a gas leak, which could ignite and cause an explosion.

  • Leaking Pressure Valve: If the temperature and pressure (T&P) relief valve is leaking, it may not be able to properly regulate internal pressure, creating a risk of bursting.

  • Shaking or Rumbling: Loud rumbling or shaking from the tank can be a sign of extreme pressure buildup.

  • Excessive Heat: If the exterior of the water heater feels unusually hot to the touch, the unit may be overheating dangerously.

  • Rust-Colored Water: This can be a symptom of severe internal corrosion that compromises the tank's integrity.

If you notice any of these signs, especially a gas smell, you must act immediately. Shut off the gas supply to the water heater and call a professional plumber right away to prevent a potential disaster.

A thermocouple is a pretty simple device. It simply tells the control valve if heat is present. Most water heaters can use a universal thermocouple, provided it's the correct length. Getting one that's long enough for your appliance is crucial for success. However, some water heater models require model-specific thermocouples, which is why it's essential to take your existing one to the store to find the right match.

Most hot water heater manufacturers recommend replacing the anode rod about once every three to five years. Anode rods sacrifice themselves by collecting iron, limestone, and other minerals that would otherwise corrode your hot water heater tank. This abuse wears them out long before your water heater does. Check the rod when you remove it and replace it if more than 50% of the metal has been consumed. Check the rod more frequently if you have hard water or use a water softener.
