"Kyle came on time as promised. He was able to diagnose the problem. He explained what what happened to my washer, and that it was a very common issue with GE washers; slipped belt and clutch. It took several days to get the parts, but he was able to replace belt and clutch in about half hour. "

"On June 5, 2025 Chris came over to my house and looked over the work I was needing to have done on the exterior of my house. Chris told me that he and his workers have done this work before and that they could to the job and gave me a estimate. I accepted his estimate over two other companies that had bid the job. On June 18, 2025 Chris the owner and worker show up at my house to fix and paint my exterior foundation. When they were over have way done working on fixing the foundation the worker told me that "he and boss never did this kind of work before". I did ask Chris about knowing what he was doing to reassure myself and he kept telling me he has done this work before. I seen the worker and Chris take pieces of concrete that had broken off and put it back in the spots and just applied new concrete over it. I asked Chris if he should be doing that and he said yes that it would help fill the area and make it stronger. On June 20, 2025 Chris had two new workers with him. When I was by the window in my house I heard him explaining like it was class time on how to mix and apply the concrete to apply on the foundation. Again, Chris told me in the beginning the he and his workers knew what they were doing. I had to tell them many times they missed or didn't cover areas on the foundation. On Saturday June 21, 2025 I had called Chris and told him that the mess he left my house was not right and that I wasn't going to pay him if this didn't get cleaned up. Chris and his workers left concrete all over side walks/steps/gutters, all over my siding, dumped a pail of concrete in a tree stump in back yard, concrete all over my lawn, on a tarp that covered my new grill, all over my new basement windows I put in last year, killed grass leaving his stuff over night on the lawn, concrete put on foundation sloppy. On June 22, 2025 Chris did text me stating he was going to make it right. There's still concrete on sidewalks/steps/gutters, from the cleaning solutions he used to clean my siding there's spots and still concrete left on , tarp on grill never got cleaned, new basement windows concrete was not formed around right, the grass is yellow from dying and there's concrete debris in it, concrete on foundation is sloppy and areas not fixed. I had told Chris I wanted a light gray paint to cover the foundation. He showed me a picture of a house on the internet of a foundation which it looked white to me and I stated I want light gray to match the steps so the foundation blends in with the steps. On June 23, 2025 Chris applied a gray slate color to my foundation. He was only at my house for less than 6 hours and told me that he was done. Chris stated he put 2-3 coats on my foundation in that amount of time. Chris had paint all over the place like the grass, sidewalk/siding/gutters, steps. I told Chris I would like to keep the paint because there would need to be touched ups down the road. I did pay Chris for the work. Chris took the paint with him when he left. I had to call Chris to bring the paint back to my house I told him to leave for touch ups. He stated he would bring it back the next day late afternoon he never showed up. I contacted Chris that evening about not showing up and he stated out of town working and will bring it between 12-1pm was late showing up. Chris brought me the paint but it was in a different pail in a THE HOME DEPOT pail. I asked WHY is the paint in different pail Chris stated that the cover broke on the other pail it was in but he wrote on this pail all the information I needed on it. I told him that his work was dishonest, that he lied to me about him and his workers knowing what they were doing, the mess he made with my house and yard, the paint was not the right color looking more like light blue then light gray. I stated to him that I should get the money back and that I was going to report him. Chris first stated that he would give me $600 then I told him that the paint I would have to go get more or get this fixed because of the color. Chris then stated he would give me $800 and I took the money. Chris stated he was taping me and that I couldn't go to court or get a attorney or sue him after taken the money. I called The Home Depot to help me with paint and they said to bring it in. I went to The Home Depot and the Manager in the paint area said that was there paint. He stated that Chris had put on the wrong paint on the foundation. That the paint was for garage floor not foundation. Also stated that the $300 Chris wrote on the pail he paid out for was wrong they don't charge that a amount for it. Chris stated he put 2-3 coats of paint on the foundation which was impossible said the manager because you have to wait 4-6 hours between each coat. So in the amount of time Chris was at my house on that Monday there's NO way he put that many coats on. So after paying me out some of the money I found out he lied about wrong paint and the cost. I did ask him for a proof of receipts on the supplies and didn't get."

"A SEAR'S APPLIANCE REPAIRMAN CAME TODAY TO FIX MY ALMOST NEW, HIGH END KENMORE ELITE DISHWASHER. IT WAS THE SECOND TIME THE DISHWASHER'S DIGITAL CONTOL BOARD FAILED. THE DISHWASHER WAS OUT OF WARRANTY BECAUSE THE IT WAS PURCHASED FOR A REMODELING JOB THAT WAS DELAYED. SO THE DISHWASHER WAS BOUGHT, BUT NOT DELIVERED FOR OVER A YEAR. THE DISHWASHER WAS ACTUALLY PUT IN SERVICE SEPTEMBER 2017, THE WARRANTY RAN OUT WHILE IT WAS SITTING IN THE APPLIANCE STORE'S WAREHOUSE WAITING TO BE INSTALLED. THE DIGITAL CONTROL PANEL FAILED IN FEBRUARY 2018. AT THE TIME I WAS TOLD BY THE SEARS REPAIRMAN WHO FIXED THE PROBLEM THAT IT WAS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL. HE TOLD ME THAT HE COULD FIX IT BY CLEANING THE CONTACTS BUT IT WOULD PROBABLY FAIL AGAIN IN ABOUT 6 MONTHS. SURE ENOUGH, IT FAILED IN JUST OVER 6 MONTHS. I PAID APPROXIMATELY $150 FOR THIS REPAIR. THE SEAR'S. REPAIRMAN WHO CAME TODAY TOLD ME THAT THE PARTS AND LABOR TO REPAIR THE DISHWASHER WOULD BE APPROXIMATELY $450.00 BUT THAT IF I WANTED, SEARS WOULD REPLACE THE DISHWASHER WITH EXACTLY THE SAME MODEL FOR FOR ABOUT $500. HE THEN CALLED SEARS APPLIANCE SALES TO ORDER THE NEW DISHWASHER BUT IT TURNED OUT THAT REPLACING THE DISHWASHER WITH THE SAME MODEL WOULD BE A LOT MORE THAN $500. SO I DECLINED THE PURCHASE AND ASKED THE REPAIRMAN TO PROCEED WITH ORDERING THE PARTS FOR THE REPAIR. HE THEN SAID HE COULD NOT PROCEED WITH THE REPAIR SINCE WHEN I OPTED TO REPLACE THE DISHWASHER, I VOIDED MY RIGHT TO HAVE THE DISHWASHER REPAIRED. HE SAID I WOULD NEED TO SCHEDULE ANOTHER $99 APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE DISHWASHER REPAIRED. THEN HE LITERALLY RAN OUT THE FRONT DOOR. I PAID $99 AND GOT NOTHING EXCEPT INCORRECT, BAD INFORMATION. WHEN I TRIED TO GET THE $99 FEE I HAD PAID REFUNDED, I WAS TOLD IT WAS NON-REFUNDABLE. I NOW I FIND OUT THE "PART THAT OFTEN FAILS" IS A SPECIAL ORDER PIECE THAT COSTS $200+ WITH SHIPPING AND IT MAY TAKE WEEKS TO GET. KENMORE BUYERS VERY BEWARE."

If you’re debating whether it’s worth repairing a damaged appliance, consider a few factors, including the appliance’s age and the cost to replace it. Large, high-value appliances are worth repairing, especially when the fixes are minor and the appliance is only a few years old. However, if the cost of repairs is more than half the price of a new item, then it may be worth replacing it. For example, if your refrigerator repair costs continue increasing and add up to more than 50% of the cost to replace it, you’re better off buying a new one.
Typically, most appliances last anywhere from 10 to 15 years, depending on the appliance, brand, and amount of use. Keeping a regular maintenance schedule, including cleaning and tune-ups, also helps appliances last longer. Dryers, gas stoves, and refrigerators tend to last the longest, averaging about 13 to 15 years. Microwaves and dishwashers tend to last about 10 years on average.
There are a few scenarios when replacing all kitchen appliances simultaneously makes sense, including major renovations, moving into a new home, or purchasing as a set. If you want to refresh your kitchen upon move-in day or start over during a renovation, consider purchasing and replacing your kitchen appliances at once to save on labor costs. Also, if your appliances are all original to the home or are older and require increasing amounts of maintenance and repair, replacing them all at the same time may be a good option.
In most cases, appliance warranties do not transfer to new owners. However, some exceptions apply. To check the status of your appliance warranty and whether you can transfer it when you move, review the terms and conditions of your warranties or consult your home warranty service. When purchasing a new appliance or one from a previous owner, be sure to pay attention to its warranty status, including the type of coverage and any exclusions.
The cost of home appliances ranges from $350 to $8,000 or more, depending on the brand, type of appliance, and features. Additional cost factors include any hookups that need to be installed, such as gas, plumbing, or electrical. Keep in mind that major appliances, such as refrigerators, washers and dryers, and water heaters, will cost more than minor appliances, such as microwaves, due to the size, complexity, and essential nature of the item.
