Installers gave us a time for arrival but showed up very late - worked into the evening hours to make up time. Even worked the following day while it was raining out.
Some of the screens had repair issues. Home Depot ordered new screens which took until August to come back to install.
Had issues with the sliding glass patio door; repairman has been out to fix; ordered 2 sets of new locks but it hasn't corrected the problem.
When removing one of the windows, our cedar siding got cracked. The window installer has been out to look at it and said he'd be back to replace the board. Haven't heard from him.
The installation service manager stopped at the house while the windows were being installed. He was called multiple times and did call back 1 time. He has never called us to see if all issues have been resolved.
We never received a 'customer service' call to see how the project went.
Last year, Home Depot laminated my kitchen and bathroom cabinets. Very pleased with the work and the subcontractor who did the job. Punctual, professional, cleaned up the mess, etc. The person that you would want to come into your home if you needed to do a messy project. No complaints and I'll sing praises for his work.
HOWEVER, the project loan I received from Home Depot was quite another matter. The sales person told me it was a loan of 6 months, NO interest. I confirmed that with Home Depot during the application process. But the paperwork that you don't see because they have you sign it electronically said and quot;6 months, INTEREST ONLYand quot;. A sneaky and underhanded way of raising the price on a project by a few hundred dollars. I will never, never, never apply for a project loan with Home Depot and give them the authority with an electronic signature.
Finished the project this year with the new floor in the kitchen and bath. The chances of my EVER using Home Depot for a major project again are slim. Punctual -- yes. Courteous -- yes (though they spent a lot of time on their phones while they were in my home). But the team sent to lay the floor wasn't able to complete the work because they didn't know how to do everything that was needed. They did a and quot;Dand quot; job in cleaning and left a lot of trash.
A second person came out 4 days later to finish (that was the next time that I could get off work) because he was unavailable on the first day. Home Depot should have made sure that the crew they send to do the job has the skills/training to do so. Home Depot made its staffing problems mine -- and it was not appreciated. But the installer knew what he was doing -- professional, courteous, left no mess -- no complaints with the second installer.
The person who came out to measure so that I could get an accurate quote had extra materials on the quote. Home Depot insisted that I purchase stair edging -- even though there are no stairs in the kitchen or bath! I may be as dumb as a brick when it comes to these kinds of projects but I certainly know AND told them repeatedly that there were no stairs. Of course, Home Depot allowed me to return the edging -- a separate trip on my part that was a waste of time.
Quote process on the flooring was quite and quot;educationaland quot;. Inaccurate and had to be redone (I believe) 8 times before the final one was acceptable. Extra materials, charges, etc. added to the quote that I repeatedly had to ask to be removed. I did inform the store of this and talked with an assistant manager. Have not heard any results from that conversation.
Picking up the material was an lesson in patience. I had been informed that everything was in but it was not together. So the person who pulled my order (and was unable to read the pick ticket) kept telling me that he had pulled everything. Again, I may be dumb BUT I knew that I needed boxes of the vinyl and the box containing the and quot;footsand quot;.
I don't remember why the wall base (for the bathroom) was not included in the quote but I knew that I would need to get that on my own. They told me that the wall base only came in a height of 4and quot; and because my new floor would be lower, I would need to do some painting. HOWEVER, the installer asked me why I didn't purchase a 6and quot; wall base. It would have been wider than normal but I would not have needed to do any painting.
So my bathroom has terrific cabinets, a great floor and the walls look horrible. Foolish me, I thought that I could count on Home Depot to help me with this project and that it would actually be finished when all was said and done.
If you're an experienced person with home projects, getting your materials or having the contractors assist is great. BUT if you're like me and not experienced -- DON'T use Home Depot.
In general, very happy with the work done. Not impressed with and quot;Crew 2and quot; who I believe was suppose to be coordinating things---they did not return any of my calls. Denise at Home Depot was very responsive and helpful.
Most days the workment were punctual. It would have been good, however, to get a phone call each day saying the time of arrival.
Check a list of the windows to be installed to be sure that all are in the truck for the job.
Don't
Leave the front door open continually. One workman did this but stopped when I asked him to close the door because I was worried about a chipmunk getting in.
