"We chose Window Concepts because they brought product samples to our home to assist us in picking out a new entry door and sidelights. I wasn't pleased with the scheduling process for installation though. They called 45 minutes after our original installation appointment time and said they wouldn't be able to make it that day. I had to wait another week and though they were a few hours late, they did show up. Despite the wait the installers did a great job and we are happy with the finished product."

"All Craft replaced three windows in the living room of my 150-year-old house -- one of the oldest houses in Rochester. I could not be more pleased! I was afraid to replace windows for fear of destroying the look of the house, but the windows they installed are perfect! They are at least a thousand percent more efficient than the old ones, but blend into the existing look perfectly -- the house looks even better than it did before! The whole experience with All Craft from the first phone call asking for an estimate to the finished product has been a delight!"

"I didn't realize when I spoke with the rep that the interior window frames would not be replaced with the windows but I actually love having the original interior frames. It looks better for my older home."

"Our project was actually a crawlspace encapsulation. We have a lake cabin that was built in the 1960's. It had a dirt floor in the crawlspace with bare block masonry foundation walls. It also had old, damp batt insulation that was falling down from the joist spaces. American Waterworks came in, removed the old insulation (a nasty job!), laid down a 2 layer moisture barrier system and spray foamed the foundation walls and rim joist area. I can't believe what a difference this has made to our air quality, much warmer floors. We used to have to wipe down the windows every morning during the winter because of condensation. Not any more! I would highly recommend this company if you have the same needs!!"

"Computer did the "gotta send info to Microsoft" but when tried to reboot it ran through automatic repair without success. I did all the alternative without any success. He came and picked up the hard drive on Tuesday and returned it on Saturday. Fortunately he was able to "restore" without any data loss. Very happy with outcome."

"My car was vandalized. I reported it to the insurance company, and the next morning an adjuster called and suggested a company I had never heard of nor was it listed on Angie's List. I requested Harmon as they had fixed a nick in my windshield before. Within minutes arrangements were made by the adjuster. Harmon gave me the option of same day service at the Burnsville shop or next day mobile service. I chose same day service at the shop, which is freeway close. The repair was fine, the car was returned very clean. It took an extra hour from the promised time, but I can't complain since I received same day service."

Windows questions, answered by experts

The most likely cause of smearing or streaking after cleaning your windows is residue left on the glass from the cleaner you’re using. Consider diluting the solution and cleaning them again, or use old newspaper to dry the windows after cleaning, as this will soak up any residual material. Additionally, aim to clean your windows on a cool, cloudy day, as cleaners will dry more quickly on the glass if it’s hot and sunny, promoting streaking.

Yes, you can install a bay window in an existing house. You’ll need to have a structural engineer draw up plans to add the necessary support to your exterior load-bearing walls and a general contractor to make the changes to the framing around the new wall opening. This will cost an average of $3,000. After that work is done, a window installer can set the new bay window in place.

Windows provide light and a view of the outdoors without the inconveniences that the outside world can come with, like noise, rain, snow, and unpleasant scents. Vinyl windows also provide energy efficiency thanks to their insulating properties, keeping your home at its coziest temperature no matter what season it is. They’re also excellent noise dampeners, so your interior space can stay calm and quiet.

Mulled windows are often more expensive than standalone windows. However, this is mostly because mulled windows tend to be larger than standard windows, meaning they require more materials and labor to manufacture and install, both of which drive up the cost. If mulled windows take up the same square footage as separate windows, they should cost about the same unless you need to reinforce your exterior wall to support the larger wall opening.

It is legal to put bars on windows in most places, but it depends on the type of bars you choose and the regulations in your area. For example, there are building codes in Mississippi, California, and Texas that forbid the use of permanently closed burglar bars on windows due to concerns about people getting trapped inside during fires.
