"We replaced the windows in our 1933 home through the services of MadCity Windows. From the initial contact with their sales representative to final installation, the company provided top notch professional work. With the draft from the old windows and the cold of the glass, we are already saving on our energy bills. Our house had old, large windows, so they had to be custom made. As an industrial designer and interior designer, we find our windows to be of excellent quality."

"Great windows, great service. Had an issue replacing a huge indoor/outdoor terrarium with a Pella Window This was a difficult transition, which I feared might not be possible. Enver and Big Mike fabricated a new window jamb and with artful skill they did a great job. They showed up on the minute of the appointment, were very gracious and friendly, and allayed my fears this might not be possible. A+"

"We chose Window Concepts because they brought product samples to our home to assist us in picking out a new entry door and sidelights. I wasn't pleased with the scheduling process for installation though. They called 45 minutes after our original installation appointment time and said they wouldn't be able to make it that day. I had to wait another week and though they were a few hours late, they did show up. Despite the wait the installers did a great job and we are happy with the finished product."

"Professional, courteous and respectful throughout the whole process! The windows are beautiful and the quality is remarkable. I recommend working with them and we will contact them again when we are in need of any service they provide."
BEFORE- A beauty looking a bit past it's prime with leaking windows and peeling paint.

I can not say enough good about the work Josh and his crew did. They were very professional and worked with my insurance company to get roof repair covered due to wind damage. I had faulty shingles put on 12 years ago and insurance company was trying to say this was all due to the poor shingles, Josh worked with adjustor and showed her the wind damage aside from the faulty shingles. Also had sliding window installed in attic later and that turned out very well.

Very happy with their work and everything done in a timely manner. Clean up was great.

Windows questions, answered by experts

In addition to window well covers or bars, you can take a few more steps to boost basement window security. Try motion-activated lighting; it scares off potential intruders by lighting up when someone gets too close. Strengthening your window glass with impact-resistant security film can also deter forced entry. A dependable home security system with window sensors and cameras offers real-time monitoring and alerts for added protection. Lastly, fostering good relationships with neighbors can establish a supportive community watch network, enhancing your home's safety.

Window screens are available in several standard sizes. Common dimensions include 24 to 36 inches wide by 36 to 48 inches tall, as well as sizes like 18 by 14 inches and 20 by 20 inches. These often correspond to standard window sizes, such as 2 feet wide by 3 feet tall or 4 feet wide by 6 feet tall. Screens are also sold in replacement rolls to accommodate various dimensions. It is always best to measure your windows for accuracy before a repair or replacement. If your windows are a non-standard size, you will likely need to order custom screens, which can increase the cost. However, a screen does not necessarily have to fit the entire window, so you may be able to use a standard-size screen even if your window is slightly larger.

Glass block windows are energy-efficient because they are much thicker than traditional glass panes, making them better insulators. They are sealed airtight, which prevents drafts and stops warm or cool air from escaping, helping to save money on heating and cooling bills. Unlike traditional windows that can be opened and closed, sealed glass block windows eliminate the potential for air leaks. For proven efficiency, look for options that are Energy Star rated. The cost for energy-efficient glass block windows is typically around $400 per window, which may be higher than standard windows.

Yes, you absolutely need a permit to add a window to your house. Your contractor can likely obtain this permit on your behalf. Ask about this when getting quotes from multiple window contractors.

There are several ways to reduce noise coming through your windows. You can seal gaps around the window frames with acoustic caulk or fresh weatherstripping to reduce noise and air leaks. Installing sound-dampening curtains, thick blinds, or shades can also help deaden sound vibrations. For an additional interior barrier, consider installing an acrylic or plexiglass sheet inside the window, which stifles sound while still allowing for outdoor views. Another strategy is to add external barriers, like dense shrubbery or a sturdy fence, to block neighborhood noises. If these methods are not effective enough, it might be time to install new noise-canceling windows.
