"I hired Northstar to refinish hardwood floors in my vintage (1926) condo. The floors now look brand new. Northstar is extremely affordable and the staff communicated with me every step of the way -- including with a follow up call post refinishing, with recommendations on how to clean and care for my floors going forward. Highly recommend!"

"They did our garage floor a couple years ago. We removed a platform for a water tank, leaving an unfinished area of the floor. They came and patched this area to match the rest of the floor and it turned out great. They were easy to get a hold of and quick to perform the work. Would highly recommend Ryan."

"S&S Flooring replaced our old vinyl plank in the kitchen and dining room plus the carpet in the living room with waterproof laminate, and the difference is night and day. The expansion gaps were tight and completely covered when they installed the trim, so everything looked finished. They showed up on time, kept the workspace clean, and communicated clearly as we had furniture pieces in the workspace. You can tell they take pride in their work.  The job was for about 1100 square feet. The material total was $3,400 and S&S charged $4,600 total for demo & disposal of our old flooring, plus installing the new floors and trim. They came in under another quote we had got. Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

If the stairs are already covered in carpet, you will need to remove the old carpet and possibly the carpet pad. Any damage to the stairs like cracks, loose boards, or creaky treads may also need to be repaired. You may also want to sand and refinish or paint wood stairs before installing a carpet runner.

No, when done correctly, removing the tile shouldn’t damage the subfloor. However, if there was pre-existing damage to the subfloor from standard use or lack of maintenance, the subfloor may need repairs. For example, if the contractors notice mold growth on the subfloor or an uneven surface, you may need more extensive services before installing new tile.

If you DIY tile removal, remove the tiles one step at a time, individually removing the tile, grout, and mortar to prevent unnecessarily damaging the subfloor. Depending on the age of your home, consider having a professional inspect the subfloor to ensure it’s in good enough condition to lay new tile.

New carpet installation offers warmth, comfort, and aesthetic appeal. It can improve indoor air quality by trapping dust particles and provides a sound-dampening effect, which is beneficial for creating quiet environments.

New flooring costs quite a bit, so longevity is important to think about. Concrete generally has the longest life span, but it’s not always a good solution for homes with wooden subfloors. That said, hardwood floors and stone floors can last up to 100 years, and you can refinish or restore them to remove imperfections from daily wear.

Your floor sees a lot of action: foot traffic bringing in dirt from outside, pets with muddy paws, kids dropping food crumbs, and more. All of this makes your floors dirty, and if you don’t keep up with cleaning them, staying on top of the dirt will become more challenging.
