"Extremely well! My adult kids wanted a mover, I referred Great Home Movers. They did not disappoint us. They were fun, energetic, respectful and timing was perfect, no complaints and even had another move to make after leaving us at 3:00. This was a big move out of an old house in Mpls not easy with straight up stairs. But mostly they were fun, my daughter in law said she will never move again without them!"

Customers say: Super punctual

"George arrived right on time with a new post (I already had a mailbox) and installed the post in the ground and attached the mailbox. Quick, efficient, and not expensive at all. I'd hire again in a heartbeat."

Moving questions, answered by experts

Ramsey’s climate requires careful planning for moving projects. Winters often bring heavy snow and icy roads, especially in neighborhoods near the Rum River, making early morning moves safer before conditions worsen. Summers can be humid, with sudden thunderstorms common in June and July. To avoid delays and protect your belongings, schedule moves in late spring or early fall when temperatures are moderate and weather is more predictable.

Helpful?

The unique features of Ramsey homes—like split-level layouts, attached garages, or mature oak trees in areas such as Alpine Park—can affect moving logistics. Older driveways may have cracks or limited space, impacting truck access. If your property has a septic system or narrow side streets, plan for smaller moving vehicles and extra help to navigate tight turns and ensure safe unloading.

Helpful?

For moving in Ramsey, keep ice melt and snow shovels ready for winter, as well as waterproof tarps for sudden summer storms. Non-slip mats are essential for entryways, especially in homes with hardwood floors. Sturdy dollies, moving blankets, and stretch wrap protect furniture. Flashlights and extra batteries help during short winter days, while insulated gloves and layered clothing keep you comfortable during cold-weather moves.

Helpful?

Common moving mistakes in Ramsey include underestimating how quickly weather can change, not clearing snow from walkways, and ignoring parking restrictions on residential streets. Many overlook the challenges of moving large trucks through neighborhoods with mature trees or narrow roads. Skipping protective floor coverings and starting late in the day during winter can also lead to avoidable damage and rushed, stressful moves.

Helpful?

As a new Ramsey homeowner, prioritize checking your heating system and insulating exposed pipes, especially before winter. Assess driveway and walkway conditions for snow removal needs, and organize your garage for sheltered unpacking. Test smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, locate the main water shut-off, and set up emergency supplies. Connecting with neighbors can provide valuable insights on local moving tips and community expectations.
