When threatened or crushed, stink bugs emit a pungent scent often described as smelling similar to cilantro. However, some people say it can smell like sulfur or ammonia. The scent is produced by a gland on their abdomen and some species can spray the scent too.

If you’re heading outdoors, wear long sleeves and pants to minimize skin exposure. You may also want to wear clothing and any additional gear, like backpacks or tents, treated with 0.5% permethrin. If you’re dealing with fleas at home, you may want to wear insect repellant and vacuum your bed, carpets, and upholstery frequently to minimize fleas.

First, you’ll start noticing fewer flying termites in the air. Second, you’ll see fewer ground-based termites near the entrances to their colony, and eventually none at all. Third, if you have access to part of the nest like mud tubes, you can scour away a section and watch it. If the tubes don’t get repaired, the nest is probably doomed. Again, it can take several weeks for termites to fully go away, depending on the type of treatment.

Scorpions cannot climb smooth, non-porous surfaces because their pincers and feet are unable to get a grip. This includes materials like clean glass, polished metal, and slick plastic. While they are excellent climbers on rough or textured surfaces like wood, brick, or stucco, their inability to scale smooth vertical surfaces is why glass jars and other slick containers are effective for trapping them or creating barriers.
