"Troy repaired a 2'x6' area on my stucco home and charged me $1000.00. My home is a smoother surface and he put a chunky texture on it. When I asked about it, he said it would look better after it dried. It did not. I called several times for him to come and fix it, he said he would stop by. He didn't . I told him my home was getting painted soon and it needed to be fixed. He offered me $200.00 back. Didn't get it. I had to hire someone else to repair his awful job. This man came right out and fixed it. He had to take off what Troy did and put the right texture on. He charged me $200.00 to do all of this. Troy ripped me off. The first one is Troys, the second is the repair after Troys repair."

Stone and Gravel questions, answered by experts

For masonry work in Minneapolis, safety measures include monitoring temperatures to ensure work is done above 40°F, using heated enclosures for winter repairs, and keeping walkways free of ice and snow. Proper fall protection on scaffolding is essential, especially on older homes. Be mindful of potential lead paint in historic properties, always check for underground utilities before digging, and use dust control methods to protect your health.

Helpful?

When hiring for masonry work in Minneapolis, prioritize contractors with experience in cold-weather construction and a strong local reputation. Ensure they understand city permit requirements and have completed projects in neighborhoods with similar architectural styles. Review their insurance coverage, check for detailed project portfolios, and read reviews from other Minneapolis homeowners to confirm their reliability, craftsmanship, and familiarity with local building trends.

Helpful?

Your Minneapolis home is a strong candidate for masonry work if you notice cracks, spalling, or deteriorating mortar—especially after winter. Homes built between 1900 and 1950, or those with classic brick or stone facades common in local neighborhoods, often benefit from updates. High energy bills, water intrusion, or previous patchwork repairs are additional signs it’s time to consult a Minneapolis masonry professional for a thorough evaluation.

Helpful?

Completing masonry work in Minneapolis offers immediate benefits like improved curb appeal and protection from harsh winter conditions, especially freeze-thaw cycles common in the area. Over the long term, you’ll enjoy increased property value, reduced maintenance, and enhanced fire resistance. Quality masonry also helps your home withstand MN’s temperature swings and can contribute to a more energy-efficient, durable structure.

Helpful?

In Minneapolis, eco-friendly masonry options include reclaimed brick, recycled aggregates, and locally sourced stone, which help lower your project’s environmental impact. For energy efficiency, consider insulated concrete forms or high-performance mortar tailored for cold climates. These materials not only improve your home’s insulation but may also help you qualify for local green building incentives, making your project both sustainable and cost-effective over time.
